Hi all!

I've been talking about starting a scene-writing contest with Eulexia, Secondarian and Stochastic over on Discord. I've attached a WIP version of the contest rules.

I'll put up a proper announcement with the final rules in a day or two. In the meantime, what are your thoughts on these? Are they readable and clear? Any problems or loopholes with the rules? Let me now!

Thanks,

SO

Boy I hope there would be some good ones to what people could make, as for me I'll stick with reading, playing, and waiting on updates.

What about PC's business trip? With her colleagues, rivals and boss. I hope there will be various sexual events at the hotel on the business trip. I would be so happy if someone with writing skills could make such an event.

Hi! I'm doing a work trip scene for the next release, although it's one with just the boss and with the main purpose of giving him an opportunity to ask out the PC. Of course there's definite scope for more scenes along those lines, if someone does choose to write one!

I hope so! In any case, it'll be good to give some reward and recognition to the people who've already contributed to the game.

Hey SO, after playing the game a few times I have a thought of something for future project scenes. Another threesome scene only this time with two females and one male, I play to the part where the PC walked home and catch the spouse cheating with another woman or a friend of yours, but with the spouse having 'Likes to Share' trait and that you are hidden away watching them it makes me feel like there could be where your caught an asked to join in...or you could just walk in and join in. Its just something that's been on my mind for a while.

GoodQuestion

Is there a guide or template located somewhere that details how to properly put together scenes? I'd love to give it a go but I have no idea how to do it mechanically

Hi! The main documentation is in newlife/additional_scenes/documentation. Much of it is reference material though, which means it's long lists of traits and whatnot that may or may not be relevant to a particular scene. Writing a simple scene doesn't require an encyclopedic knowledge of this, so don't get discouraged! The example scene in that same folder might be a decent starting point. Like all custom scenes, it's split over two files. The yml file that defines the scene's structure and the vm one that contains its text. It covers a bunch of different things you can do and you could play around with it, trying out calls to various game functions. Copy both files to additional_scenes/user_custom_scenes and set the custom-scene-testing option from the in-game options screen. You'll then be able to test it out using a weekday action. yml and vm files can both be edited in a text editor. Something like notepad++ would give you better functionality than things like notepad, but any text editor will do the job. The divorce scene is a simpler one in the same folder: it's there as a way to let players end their marriage, but you could use it as a way to experiment by changing the method calls or text. For active scenes, check out the official_content folder. This contains scenes that are fully implemented in the game, of varying levels of complexity. Editing a file in this folder will change what it does in the game, so make a backup first! The minidate scenes are mostly quite small and show how even a fairly simple scene can add value to the game. Braless-shopping is longer, but has a fairly straightforward structure and you can probably see how it grew out of a "short-story" type structure. DatingApp and the prostitution ones (spIntro, spMain, hpIntro) are examples of how a short scene can act as a jumping-off point into sex or dating scenes. The discord (there's a link from the blog) has a some people who have experience with scene creation and might be happy to answer questions. I also check in there and can weigh in. It's confusing for everyone just starting out, but I hope you can have fun with it and enjoy your writing!
