Hi all, I feel that maybe I'm limiting myself too much to the Inner-Circle group with my non-release posts so I thought I'd make a quick one to let you know how things are going.

Over the last few days I've been part-time on Newlife as I pushed to start making real progress on my 2nd game that I'm writing in Unity. I've had some reverses as I come to learn the language but things have gone a lot better this month and I'm quite excited by how it's going. I'm not ready to share the details just yet but I'm hopeful that I'll be ready to start commissioning artwork by the end of the year.

I do want to temper expectations a bit though. Game2 will be a much better-designed game than Newlife but it'll also be a quite different game full-stop and there are definitely going to be people who enjoy Newlife but don't find the next one to their tastes - you shouldn't expect it to be "Newlife but better".

I'll be getting back fully into Newlife tomorrow. The next release is maybe around half-done - it'll focus on improvements to Liking.

I've also been speaking to writers about commissioned work - you might recall that I promised to commission a scene to make up for my own writing being limited while I was recovering from injury. This is now in progress - I've come to an agreement with not one but two new writers, and that's in addition to one that's been ongoing since before my injury. Their payments are in escrow now, and they've got a 4-month deadline on producing their scenes so you should see something by late-December.

My injury is much better - I had a worrying mini-relapse at the start of the month but that's now faded. I still get warning twinges in my back & shoulder if I spend too long at the computer or let myself lapse into bad posture, but as long as I'm careful to keep doing the exercises the physio taught me it doesn't really affect my work.

Well, I hope you're all enjoying the summer. Have a great week and I'll be in touch in a week or two with the next release.
