(C1,1) The cannon route (Patreon)

“Welcome to the harpy quickstart launch cannon. How can we help you?” A young harpy greeted as soon as the two priests entered the building with the large cannon on top of it. It really seemed like that thing at the top wasn’t just for show.

“Uhm… yes, right. We came here to take the cannon up to the temple… I guess?” Akira spoke, not sounding so sure of himself anymore. Though who would blame him, since he was currently standing in front of a massive ‘living being’ launching device.

“Exactly. So we would like to use your cannon for that, since I am assuming it is safe to use.” Ryder added, much more chilled about the situation.

The harpy immediately saluted the two priests and let out a happy chirp. “Yep yep. Don’t worry, our cannon is super safe. I have been using it practically every day for years now, be it to give others a good start or to even fire myself to the upper level. Just wait for a moment, I’ll prepare the cannon for you.”

With that, the harpy scurried off, running toward and flapping towards the rest of the harpies that were working in the back of the building and started doing… something. Probably preparing the cannon, whatever that entailed.

“Uhm… Ryder?” Akira asked, somewhat hesitantly. “Do you really think that is a good idea? Shouldn’t we have just taken the floating way across? This just sounds so unsafe, you know.”

“Honestly, I don’t think it mattered.” Ryder shrugged as his expression turned into a big smile “But I don’t regret this in the slightest. After all, when do you think will be the next time you will be able to be fired out of a freaking cannon. I know it is safe here cause Nagisa, and I won’t get that guarantee anywhere else~”

“I can’t tell if you are crazy or just very excited to be shot…” Just as Akira finished speaking, the Harpy came back, flapping happily to their side.

“Okay guys, I just need to know one more thing before I am able to fire you up.” She said with a big grin on her face. “We can adjust the pressure pretty precisely, so where do you want to go? We can shoot you either to the top of the temple, to the harpy hangar or to the main entrance. Which one shall it be?”

“Pretty sure that top is a good idea. Because the other priests will likely not check that place out.” Ryder said, nodding to himself.

“Are you sure that the hangar isn’t a better idea? After all, it sounded more like a place where you can stick the landing more easily.” Akira replied.

“Okidoki, my guests. Follow me~” The harpy chirped happily and pushed the two guys forward…

“W-W-Wait!!! I am not mentally ready ye…”

KABOOOOOOMMMM!!!! KABOOOOOOMMMM!!!!

“What the…?” The harpies all chirped simultaneously, shocked by the unusually loud noise that came from the cannon. The boss then spoke up loudly. “So who of you girls forgot to enable the noise canceling magic? You know that everyone hates it if we sound like our building explodes!”

“Sorry ma’m…” The energetic harpy from before spoke up. “I guess I was just too excited to fire humans… Eheheh…”
