To the Earth Nation our heroes go!

I've done arena competitions with players in the past, and the lesson I've taken away from it is that those even tests of power can be a tad boring and one-sided unless the characters have a lot of ways to thwart or neutralize each other. Although it's tempting to try to drag it out and make it last longer, in most cases, it's enough to do maybe two or three actions, and after that it's fairly clear who the winner will be. There's just not enough spectacle in pen and paper to capture the tension of a fluid sparring match. Only in really specific cases will one character have enough diverse abilities and counters to be worth seeing it all.

Borg Lord

"Capture the alchemist and give him to the Dark Lord instead" is thinking too small. Capture the alchemist, use his drugs to capture Bingle, and then give both to the Dark Lord.

A light disco ball out of water sounds awesome! A lot better than Aang's spinning marbles. Also I love the idea of "Team Rocket" maybe ending up teaching Bingle to become an earth master. If Bingle's as savant as he says he probably already learned a lot from the body armor technique. I wonder if that armor is actually tough enough to absorb blows enough to be useful, and if so then I guess this means, given that usual earthbender fights are over quickly and include concussions, that Lawry is actually really good and that thanks to him Bingle can master earthbending a lot more quickly because he can already start before they picked their master to teach them. I wonder if earthbenders in this universe can learn to metalbend and lavabend as well.
