It hindsight it almost feels like a no-brainer that the ads people see have nothing to do with the video they're watching since they're meant to be "personalized", but I believed the effect would be a lot more apparent since Youtube tends to recognize what game is being played and labels it properly immediately after it's uploaded. It's been pointed out that ads might change if the channel became hyper-focused on a specific brand, but I'm not so sure and that wouldn't be nearly as fun as just playing whatever theme seems to pop up the most.

So for now, I'm hoping to find out if people even see the same content when they perform a search for meaningless, non-controversial terms like "marigold". I am currently expecting most of the results of the search to be the same, but  honestly I'm not sure. If everyone comes back with wildly different results, it might be hard to tease any kind of useful information out of that from the broad perspective, but if we can at least find one commonality as a group on the site, we may be able to develop some ideas from there.

I've been excited about this concept, so I did a little animation this time around! Just a touch of it, featuring Putterdale himself as the example of our usual Youtube user. I also did some custom music for the cutscene.

Slick Sam Sells You: Genshin Impact

This is not the game I thought it was! Probably for the best.

Since you haven't made the next one yet: - I usually use adblock. - preroll: grammarly.com, Sneak Energy - 1st midroll: Nothing. - 2nd midroll: Hunt a Killer, AARP - final ads: RNR Tires - marigold search results: PERIPHERY - Marigold (Official Music Video), M2U & NICODE - Marigold (Full Mix) Not looking for top recommendations anymore? It's funny, cause usually when I watch anything remotely pony related on Saturday, I get a recommendation for RDP: Star in Yellow. Pretty consistent for like the last 6 months.

Would be interesting if you did a longer term LP of a game, and see if that affects recommendation over time. With all the machine learning YT/Google does, I suspect just one view might not be enough to make an impact, but a longer term trend might.
