In news this week, I've gotten back into the swing of working on the video game I started on, and progress is really picking up!

It's fast enough and visible enough at the moment to actually see the progress as it's laid out, and I'm currently working on putting together the level for the "tutorial" stage. It can be hard to put down work on this project in exchange for others sometimes, and while I know it's not everyone's biggest source of excitement currently, this game is a chance to use a lot of art, writing, and animation skills that the big web platforms don't express as much value towards, among things.

I've decided to go ahead and animate the monsters, so it's clear what they're doing and which ones are doing it. It adds about a day or so of work per monster because a lot of them aren't really well-suited for rigging - which is its own job anyway - but since I plan to have maybe four or five monsters per area it's not too demanding.

It's hard to offer and exact date to it, but pretty soon, hopefully within the next few months as I weave between other projects, I'll have what amounts to a demo of the first playable area for you guys to look at!
