The character "Care" is heavily modified from the original campaign this comic is based on, to the extent that even the GM will probably be guessing as to who he's supposed to be, exactly. In a roleplaying game, it's pretty normal for NPCs to come and go as quest givers and so on, but with an actual story you need to flesh these people out and anchor them to things a little more. The advantage of a free-form environment is that you can do anything, but in a linear written format I think it's better when the picture is nice and clear and full of those unlikely, poetic incidents.
