I'm bringing the stupid back. A while ago somebody asked me why the second book and this book wasn't as off the wall as the first, and I don't remember exactly the explanation I gave but the real motive for Stebe not doing anything fantastic was that I wanted Lina to doubt him and feel like she was the one holding the wheel, which meant having a prolonged stretch where Stebe doesn't teleport across the country or defeat a man made of nachos by using a misunderstanding of baseball.

But now I'm blotting out the sun and Stebe is going to dance his way out of a jam, and everything I've had planned for after this revolves around Stebe and his inane abilities. In hindsight, it was probably a really poor strategy to do pretty much two whole comics where Stebe is relatively boring.

In my mind, the goofy nonsense was always on the horizon, but I've got these notes on all of it and I planned to bring it back. But I probably should have really given a lot more thought to the structure and the pacing so that readers would have the same expectation.
