This episode was inspired by my local politics, like many Skyline episodes so far! A lot of the local farmers have been taking for years, and somewhat recently there was a mass exodus of farmers who have just given up and sold off the family farm. They're between a rock and a hard place because neither political party is especially receptive to their needs. The Republicans want to see them get gobbled up by large corporate farms, and the Democrats give the impression of not being concerned with it. And that's just the start of it.

There were a few things I had in mind while writing the episode, but realized that if I tried to cover everything it'd go from being a comedy to a one-man informational piece about the plight of modern farmers, and that's frankly not what Radio Skyline is about! So we had to take a sharp left turn somewhere in there.

But why? In reality, this is a pretty complex problem. We've been hearing about farmers and trade situation, but they've it rough for years, and in my local area there's been a major exodus from the countryside as farming families close up shop and move to the city. However, ten minutes isn't enough to get in it in a real way, and that would be much too serious for Radio Skyline.
