The perspective is pretty wonky in this one, especially that third panel where the man is clearly driving his car into the alleyway and not down the street, but maybe it's just some sort of really complex perspective that your eye doesn't immediately notice? At any rate, at least the backgrounds look more interesting in spite of being so simple. It's amazing how a few implied shapes do a lot more for the scene than actually drawing the whole brick pattern. I imagine it must have something to do with the way the brain processes information, that it just phases out repeating images like that but will take a sharper notice of semi-random lines.
