Aide from the ideas of circles being a big deal, I like that magic is forbidden and not understood, yet people use it to do all sorts of useful things. How does the trial and error work? Do you see if you can heat up a cup of coffee with magic, and then if it accidentally summons a demon that turns you inside out, your apprentice writes it down and makes a note NEVER to heat coffee like that?
