While a fine movie, I'd rank it alongside "Wonder Woman", which also got praise from critics and social media in spite of having a lot of dumb writing. Black Panther isn't exactly about the hero himself, and it's not exactly about Wakanda, and it seems to mix its messages by challenging their villain without really refuting him. It makes statements about race and ethnicity without really delving into the subject in a meaningful way, and when all is said and done I think the best praise I can offer is that it's a decent action film.
