I liked Black Widow a lot but it could have been great. They could've made it on the level of Winter Soldier. A badass spy thriller with a shocking twist. Oh well. I still liked what we got though.

I remember liking it at the time and like you thought it was good, but it didn't WOW me. This is not a dis on it as an enjoyable watch, just that this had a few things going against it in timing, for one. But, people have said criticisms of the villain being unimpressive because he was simplistic and not one that most of us can understand. He's just a straight-up monstrous human being, which there are some out there, but like I said, they're uninteresting. You just look at them and go, "OK, this person is just awful and they need to be stopped. No use trying to understand them." Also, I wasn't at all confused about the ring thing though. I totally knew when he said he didn't have his ring that Nat snatched it off him. Well, right after when they showed her use it, I knew that's what happened. Yeah, we didn't see exchange, but she's done a LOT of stuff we didn't see her do that she sort of shows up with later and says something like, "I'm sorry, did I step on your moment?" or "Thank you for your cooperation," because she's that good. She does stuff from right under your nose and you don't know about it until she's gone. I don't think that was a mistake in editing or directing or anything. It was purposeful so that when you see Nat with the ring ('cause she was eyeballing it on him before and saw it controlling the console) that you'd go, "HA! Nice." One little fun piece of info: that mask that she wore to simulate Melina's face (which she also used in Captain America: The Winter Soldier) is called "The Widow's Veil." Pretty cool, huh? I feel this movie is much better on subsequent viewings, without the expectations going in. I also remember people saying that this should've come out in actual chronological order. I didn't have a strong feeling about that although I did think that sounded logical. But, on subsequent viewings, it has a TOTALLY different feel than it would if it came out in chronological order 'cause it hits harder knowing Nat's sacrifice in Endgame. Oh, if no one else has told you, we see an early iteration of the Widow program in the Agent Carter series. I think you know who I mean.

Yeah good point about the ring thing! To your second point, for me having this movie before Endgame would have made her sacrifice in it MORE impactful and I definitely would have been more emotional during that. It is what it is, just sucks that Marvel felt a woman-led superhero movie wouldn't have done well back then. And yes, I do know who you mean! It has been cool seeing that.

Do you think you’ll watch Hawkeye series before Xmas?

kaiielle

I won't be. A few people mentioned it on YouTube too, which tells me the series is set at Christmas. My December is already all planned out and I don't want to be making any adjustments. Also, in order to get Hawkeye watched by Christmas, I'd have to only watch the MCU in December and I do not want to do that ever.
