This is one of those movies I had a lot of problems with the first time I saw it. But with re-watches I enjoy it a lot more now. Sometimes my first watch of anything is a bit too critical. What I enjoyed most this time around is how much it felt like a Bond film to me. I've heard the comparison before but never really put it together. It makes sense. Natasha has no super powers, she's just incredibly skilled. She can infiltrate quite easily, fight hand-to-hand and with melee weapons as easily as using a gun. She even has a "Q" bringing her equipment. Dreykov is definitely a quintessential Bond villain right down to his evil plan. It even makes accepting the ridiculous stunts much easier. I did like the relationship with her and Yelena. I wish they had given us a few more movies with the 2 of them. Scarlett and Florence had great chemistry. I love David Harbour as well, but Alexsei was just a bit too far on the silly side. Can't wait for you to get to Hawkeye! It's one of my faves! Perfect timing as it's set during Christmastime!

I feel like that will be me too, and I'll enjoy it more with future rewatches. I haven't seen the Bonds at all, so can't really make comparisons there. But I did see someone on Letterboxd say that it feels like Mission Impossible. 😅 I'm really excited for Hawkeye too!

Onno Smits

I LOVE this movie. It wasn't all that well received when it came out, but it's really high on my list of favourite MCU movies. I had never seen Florence Pugh in anything, and damn did she impress me in this. Her acting in that "family dinner" scene broke my heart. I'm looking forward to getting more Yelena, hopefully soon. 🤞 My major gripe with this movie is how they introduce Taskmaster. It's such a cool concept to have a villain that can copy any hero's fighting style. And it's so fun to watch the fight scenes in this movie and try and see which of our favourite heroes all of Taskmaster's moves are from. You can see a bunch of Winter Soldier, Steve Rogers, Black Panther, Hawkeye, obviously Black Widow, and even a bit of Crossbones. But they don't properly explain Taskmaster at all, and it goes over everyone's head that isn't familiar with the character from the comics. The music for this movie is another highlight for me. Black Widow never really got a musical motif established for her character, the same way most other Avengers did. This firmly establishes one (albeit a little late).

Richard Flores

I first saw Florence Pugh in Midsommar, and she was outstanding in that one too.

This movie actually ties back to the first Avengers film in a fun way. In the scene where Nat is talking with Loki about the red in her ledger. Loki lists some things that she feels guilty about and he mentions Dreykov’s daughter.

Oh gosh that's a small detail I definitely did not remember! WILD! Love it.

I love the weight this movie adds when you re-watch Endgame. Judging off her appearance at the end there, I assume that Yelena also blipped when Thanos snapped. (Could be wrong so if someone knows different please correct me) So not only did she lose part of her Avengers family but she also lost her little sister. Explains why she was willing to do anything for the possibility of bringing them back. Wonderful movie and great reactions! Can't believe you're almost caught up already, what a ride!

Ahh so true, great catch! It still feels like I have a lot to watch before I'm truly caught up, especially since I have some movies that I need/want to watch in-between that aren't part of the MCU technically. But it will go by so fast!
