This was a wonderful revisit with you. I’ll admit that this one has grown on me. I have never been a big fan of this particular vein of Sam Rami’s style. It’s weird, that I don’t mind the camp & corn in the Tobey era Spider-Man films or in the Hercules & Xena shows, but I’ve never really enjoyed Rami’s use of it in his horror films. I feel similarly about this movie, I don’t mind the typical superhero cheese, but when it is injected into the horror scenes, it takes me out of the 616 and reminds me that I am watching a Sam Rami movie, rather than the next exciting chapter of the MCU’s Multiverse Saga. It’s a fine line and while I still am not a fan of Rami’s horror movies, his style does seem less abrasive upon rewatching this particular film. I saw this movie opening weekend on Mother’s Day, so it was a memorable experience. I do love my Marvel in May tradition. *Edit: the releasing of Dr.S:M.O.M. on Mother’s Day weekend and having the antagonist/villain be a Mother looking for her children and a second protagonist looking for her Mothers, was movie marketing at its finest. 👏👏👏 Plus, this movie had a lot of excitement around it and I was guilty of letting my mind run wild with multiverse possibilities. It didn’t help that for some reason, someone at Marvel thought it would be a good idea to spoil Professor X in one of the trailers. My X-Men loving heart skipped a beat, and I immediately thought of all the possible stories they could pull from involving those characters. To say that I allowed my expectations to cloud my initial impression of this film would be an understatement. I still wouldn’t rank this in my top ten, but this movie has certainly gotten better with time, imo anyway. Your reaction to this has made me even more excited for your continued journey into the Marvel Multiverse!!!

Since you mentioned it 😁 I wanted to put the idea out there for way, way, down the line in your Marvel watching journey. That a YouTube live or Discord re-watch of the “Fantastic Four” movies from 05’ & 07’ would be fun.
