Nintendo's 1996 collaboration with Square yielded the excellent Super Mario RPG for the Super NES and now, decades later, the game has been remastered into full 3D for Nintendo Switch. John Linneman goes back to the original, stacks it up against the new game, then critiques it on its own merits as a 2023 Switch release.

Another great analysis John! ^^. As I said before, despite being totally a remake (from plain 2D sprites to full 3D, but static), to me it works more like an "Ultra HD Remaster", hehe XP

Honestly just a bit disappointed by the coverage here. So far I've encountered way more frame drops than I expected to based on this video. Especially surprising are that even the smallest screens (such as the bedrooms in the mushroom castle) can exhibit drops. While the opening castle is the worst (as pointed out in the video) I've encountered so far, this simply is not smooth in basically any respect.
