Hello there and welcome to your regular scheduled update on everything that's happening here at Digital Foundry for this - the 39th week of 2023. Those of you following John on Twitter will see that he's having a great time in Japan, visting TGS, various arcades and meeting up with a range of developers. So, here's what the rest of the team are up to this week based on our Monday morning staff meeting:

* Rich (ie me) is finally working some expectation management for the Switch 2 GPU, based on finding the absolute worst Ampere-based graphics card out there. That would be the mobile RTX 2050 which you can think of as a lobotimised 3050. I'll be putting out a teaser video for premium tiers shortly but above is the Death Stranding intro on default (ie console) settings. This is a super-optimal PC port but even so, the results are impressive as long as you're not expecting any form of 4K... on this game, at least. More soon!

* Tom is working on some embargoed content later this week, but he's started work on Lies of P and will be delivering the verdict on the console versions.

* Alex is going to be starting work on completely different embargoed content to the embargoed content Tom will be working on. Sorry we can't say more about this for now, but don't expect the video until next week.

* Oliver is on the final stages of delivering our Phantom Liberty console coverage, before circling back to take a look at No Man's Sky on Switch. His 'Fixed on Switch' video is already on early access for premium tiers, but we're told that Switch is getting improvements to FSR2 and image quality in general, so we're looking to update that.

* John may be on vacation right now, but his Forza Motorsport preview coverage will be going public on Wednesday... but I think all supporters have early access to this one right now: https://www.digitalfoundry.net/forza-motorsport-hands-on-xbox-series-xseries-s-first-impressions

* Will is working on some coverage looking at AMD's HYPR-RX features for RDNA 3 GPUs and after that, I'll be sending on his 7900 XTX and our HDMI 2.1 capture card to Alex in preparation for whenever FSR 3 arrives... (and no, that's not his embargoed content project and we don't even know when it's arriving).

There's lots going on then, even if we've not quite descended into the madness that is October. Do let us know of any projects you think we should be looking at but for now, I hope you all have a great week!

Seeing “super-optimal pc port” of Death Stranding makes me think I’m crazy. I know there are others that have experienced the odd slow panning camera stutter (there was an old ResetEra thread that talked about it). But I find it incredibly unlikely that Alex never saw it. I’ve spent an ungodly amount of time trying to fix this with every potential out there but I still wonder if it is such a small minority that has this issue? I have tried it on multiple configurations including the deck (but it doesn’t run great there anyways.) Sorry for the rant, this game has become my white whale that I’ll go back every now and then to test and tweak so whenever I see the PC port mentioned I tend to look for others that have experienced this.
