Hi everyone, after a great deal of personal frustration and annoyance, the ROG Ally review is complete and will go public once I've had a chance to look at the latest BIOS due imminently. Asus says it will solve the '15W performance metrics are too low plugged in' problem but this video bypasses that anyway and assumes they have indeed fixed it. If they haven't, another version of the video is waiting to go.

Regardless, I don't see any reason why supporters shouldn't get to see how this one shakes out.

Here's the blurb: weeks in the works and delayed owing to BIOS issues, our review of the Asus ROG Ally is finally complete. We're looking at the highest specification PC handheld we've seen yet with the Z1 Extreme processor paired with fast memory and a 1080p 120Hz VRR panel. But we're also looking at Windows 11 - which has traditionally performed poorly in the handheld space. This is clearly the most powerful PC mobile device around - but is it the best?

Awesome! And FYI - The Phawx just posted a video where he claimed Arkham Knight preforms about 10% better on the new BIOS. He is also the only other person I've seen that has pointed out the issues when plugged in, so I assume it is not related to that.

Amusingly, Asus tells me the new BIOS only fixes the problem mentioned above. It's very possible to get 10% variance on a run by run basis as power consumption seems to change with the tide.

Do you see the issue as being what Phawx said: when plugged in it assumes you are using the external GPU and starves the internal GPU for power. (Which makes no sense when almost no one will be using an eGPU.) I have the Ally on preorder but I don’t know after seeing these early reviews. I need to reset my expectations that, for now, it’s a tech toy and not a polished mobile gaming experience.
