Coming This Week on Digital Foundry (Week 6, 2023) (Patreon)
Content
Hi everyone, it's Rich - back from vacation, which was essentially a case of figuring how how far south I can get from the UK in a sub-five hour flight and to actually see some sunshine and experience the concept of 'warmth' in a cost-effective manner. The answer was the southern-most tip of Gran Canaria, an island due west of Morocco. Anyway, I'm back, the Digital Foundry #content meeting happened and this is the result.
* Rich (ie me) will be returning to the GeForce Now 4080 review, which is now actually doable as my closest datacentre - in London - has now been upgraded. Up top is Cyberpunk 2077 maxed with DLSS frame generation running through our benchmark test sequence (curiously I was routed to the Frankfurt server - latency is 6ms on the London server). Other projects in the pipeline for the weeks to come? Ayaneo 2/Ayaneo Geek, RTX 4090 notebooks and, yes, the 4K 240/8K 60 piece on RTX 4090.
* John is now out of regular rotation, working on embargoed content.
* Tom is working on the latest Witcher 3 Next-Gen patch, which will include an assist from Alex covering off the PC version of the game - which also includes changes and improvements. Beyond that, our fascination with Xbox Series S continues with a look at its 120Hz offerings.
* Alex himself is polishing off the Dead Space Remake PC piece, which should be arriving in the next few days. He then delivers his portion of The Witcher video before moving onto embargoed content.
* Oliver delivers the Dead Space Remake cross-platform comparison this week, which will essentially be the third iteration of that #content. The first iteration was based on the review code, which was halted when it turned out that the lack of a 30fps cap would be remedied in the day one patch. The second version of this video is available now on Early Access for premium/retro supporters - but was invalidated just over a day later once the latest patch dropped. We're pretty confident that the final form of the video will be a good critique of the game that will remain relevant for some time!
Finally, a big thanks to Will for stepping into my shoes for a week and dealing with all the bothersome admin! With regards to Hogwarts Legacy, you'll have noticed that reviews went live today - we do not have code yet and it's understood via Warner Bros that there'll be a day one patch on launch day. We'll figure out how we cover it and if we cover it once we've actually seen it.
Have a great week!
