I couldn’t help but notice Richard absolutely wiping the floor with the skulls of his employees in the Quake RT Let’s Play. That video got me thinking: what’s a game that each of you have gone back to play with old friends to relive the good old days?

Launcher updates keep breaking games on the steam deck! What will it take to free us from this curse?

We've got deep learning image reconstruction and deep learning anti aliasing. What about deep learning vrs. Dead space vrs woes have me wondering.

Just had a service person come in. First thing they always say: "Wooow. You have a lot of games and gear.". Do you guys always find servicepeople being nosy about your collection and setup?

Does the DF crew think it is ‘safe’ to move to Windows 11 on a dedicated gaming rig?

What piece of known hardware or game release are you most excited for this year ? Mine is Returnal on PC

Another question about the successor to the Switch. The current switch has long loading times and suffers noticeable pop-in on games like resident evil revelations 2. Does Nintendo need to implement nvme storage to allow for the next generation of games to function properly and will it knee-cap the system if it doesn't include it?

Would you guys be interested in taking a look at Deliver Us Mars? It seems to be a big jump from the first game and has ray tracing features and DLSS 3.

Hello DF Crew! As an avid PC gamer I don't own a PS5, however, as an Digital Foundry enjoyer I find discussion around these devices and their limitations to be extremely interesting. My question is, how many games actually use the tempest audio engine to its full potential? I remember pre launch discussion around the PS5 talking about how the tempest engine had the processing power of an entire jag cluster from the PS4, and how it could potentially simulate the sound of rain accurately as to how you would experience it in real life. Has this been your experience in reality or are games not using the audio hardware to its full potential?

Michael Pearn

we'll let the DF crew speak to it, but in my humble experience with my brain and 42 year old hearing, with the PS5 3D Wireless headset - its definitely 3D audio but not to the hype that was out there pre launch. Left/right spatial yes, but I don't hear much 'above or below' sound.

Hello DF, penny for your thoughts? I have just entered the world of gaming laptops with a Legion 5 3060. This was bought at Microcenter for $760 open box. This was to replace my daily, that I recently broke the screen on. I dont normally buy gaming laptops because the price/performance is atrocious. This deal throws that out the window. This laptop cost $1100 when purchased, down to $1000 here a week later. Typically I buy $130 laps with dual cores, just enough for a tab of Chrome. I don't like the idea of spending $4-500 on a laptop that still can't game. However, 4060 laptops are taking this pricepoint in a few weeks, and I am still in return window. Unlike desktop where I just buy the best, laptops are not cut and dry. My desk is a 7700X/4090, (soon to be X3D)and I know a laptop with a "4090" is going to cost way more and still be quite inferior. I feel surprisingly comfortable with this purchase at this price, but knowing I got this deal, and will be paying minimum of $1100 for a 4060 laptop, would you keep the 3060 lap, or is the new performance level of the 60 class lap worth the $3-400 in your opinions?

Is there anything you can do to make traversal/asset loading stutter less visible in games such as the dead space remake? getting a stronger CPU? engaging V-sync? Also is such stutter more common in pc ports than on console?

Anonymous

Hey there! If a PS5 or Series console was hardware modded (GPU, memory, etc), would this introduce stutter-struggle in existing games? If so, what’s preventing stutter-struggle being a thing if pro consoles were released (aside from games being patched?) Cheers, -Stu

Luke

Would it be an idea for you to always tell us the recommended settings of a tech review? Also for console settings (if perfomance or quality) I can never decide that easily and am waiting for your reviews to find out whats more worth it.

First things first: You guys are wizards! My question: how far do you think (console) graphics will take us by the end of this (weird) generation? Will we be reaching near photorealistic graphics in ‚tight‘ environments like in Dead Space / Callisto Protocol and on the other hand Callisto Protocol like graphics in open worlds? Sorry for awkward English, cheers :)

Can we expect some Touhou content from Audi or John? I think it will be brilliant as a DF Retro episode, taking a look at those amazing games.

Hi DF Quick question for Alex: Why we don't see many games using the dynamic resolution as an option in PC ports, is there something different between the console implementation and the PC implementation?

DarkRod99

Hello DF (Again): According to reports from Bloomberg, Halo is moving to Unreal Engine what are your thoughts on this? This makes another studio inside Microsoft that will use Unreal Engine as their main engine, and another one of many studios ditching their in-house tech in order to use Unreal Engine. Do you think that the tech reviews that you guys make will become stale or monotonous in the future? Also why it's always Unreal, why not Unity or CryEngine those are capable engines as well don't you think?

Love your work! With the new drivers from Intel about to drop that have the performance jump for dx9 and less so 11/12, was wondering if we could get a refresh comparison with all the latest drivers between the a750 / a770 and its counterparts like the 3060ti and so forth. Building a new rig soon and curious about these differences with the newest drivers.

Anonymous

PC world has done a couple videos detailing the performance updates for the new drivers. They just did a 3 month check in, hopefully they'll be willing to test the latest update despite the recent video.

Hi guys, with the popularity of game pass, I feel like Microsoft is uniquely positioned to release a portable console. Seeing the Logitech G Cloud retailing for 350 and Steam Deck for 400 I see no reason why Microsoft couldn’t release a competitor, capable of running the BC catalog locally and Series X/S games through the cloud. And those indie games that made the vita so great should keep being cross gen. What am I (or Phil Spencer) missing?
