Update: Good news, everyone! It looks like a fix to the VRS issue mentioned in the video is coming soon. However, that also means that this video is soon to be out of date, and likely won't debut tomorrow. Oliver is planning to redo the video based on the patch, and we'll update you on the video's ETA once we know more. Thanks!

Original message continues below:

As promised, here's an early look at Oliver's platform comparison video for Dead Space, with PS5, Xbox Series X and Series S tested. This is due to debut on the channel tomorrow, but I hope you'll find it a pleasant companion to the tech review that'll go live today (and is already available for Premium + Retro backers). Enjoy!

Video blurb: In the follow-up to our initial DF tech review, Oliver Mackenzie provides the current-gen console platform comparisons: PS5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. Which is the best system to play the game on right now, what cutbacks can you expect on Series S and why does VRS cause particular problems on PS5?

Thought I wouldn’t get to see the PS5 pre VRS patch. I love these early access for supporters.

Honestly getting to the point that maybe sitting on new releases for a week to clear any patches would be a better use of your time considering all these games coming in hot, rendering the hours of footage you guys work on as unfairly moot. I get there's a timeliness factor but you don't have a whole lot of competition for your particular sector of analysis for current gen games. People will come to you guys regardless.

gotta disagree... id rather have the info for 2 reasons. First i wanna know so i know whether its ok to buy but just as if not more important i want devs to know that someone is there with content ready to goabout this kind of stuff so maybe one day they will stop doing odd things like leaving out a toggle for VRS on pc or not doing a shader precompile in ue4/5 which is actually something i asked a ue4/5 dev about and i said get as into the weeds as you want and if there is documentation i can read go ahead and send the links.

I never said to not have the info. I said to cover it after the patches. Obviously by the time you buy it it'd be patched. Many times they are getting the early code of the game. They've already scrapped several reviews because of this and talk directly to devs so it's not like the devs are in the dark and other people aren't mentioning it. They would still cover the obvious settings but now they had to scrap this review and do it over. No one's seeing it except a select few and it's a time waster.

No I hear you but when they released the videos to us, the paying customer the game was already out and I was just shy of 2 hours thank god. I knew something was wrong with the visuals but VRS isn't one of those super obvious to identify things. So it helped me because I refunded and then ended up getting it the same day on sale for $22 off the deluxe edition and from a legitimate store not never2a because I was determined to find a way to disable VRS just in case ea never did. I'm also 75% certain ea wouldn't have changed it if it wasn't for DF and their video. Plus most of the script can still be used, probably 90% of if. They just need some new broll and a quick edit later and we have the updated video. I'm actually just about to try the updated version on PC.

Everytime i read "Good news, everyone!" i read it in Professor Farnsworth voice from Futurama...is it just me? Anyway...carry on! Great video!

Will PC not be receiving coverage?

It looks really nice on consoles now! Very glad they cleaned it up. Now I just need to decide if I want this on PS5(for convenience) or PC(with Ray tracing on a 3080). Is the Ray tracing difference that big in this title?
