Hello everyone, we're getting our prep sorted for DF Direct Weekly #90, where we'll be discussing updates to The Callisto Protocol on PC and possibly delving into Fortnite UE5 and what it means for 60fps gaming on consoles with Lumen and Nanite in the mix... though we have an extensive video on that coming soon!

But of course, it's The Game Awards tonight and we'll also be discussing the cream of the crop of the 'Wurld Prm'ears' and likely sharing our disbelief at some - but probably not all - of the winners.

We'll be collecting up questions first thing tomorrow morning in case, you've got anything to asks about 'The Geoffs' and the surrounding circus. Right now, it looks like it'll be John, Rich and Alex at the mics!

Thanks in advance!

If DF does get to expand its PC "department" so to speak, by that I mean Alex, alongside the classic GPU benchmarks we know and love, will there be scope to include 21:9 resolutions. I know they're relatively in the niche still, but asking I'm selfishly as I game 3440x1440 and feel this is a great area of PC gaming. Much love and all the best.

Hello there! :) With Raytracing being a mainstream rendering feature in games and with a big hit on CPU workloads, DLSS, FSR and XeSS offer a beautiful solutions. CPU development (or Utilisation from devs) seems to lag behind in GPU performance increases. Could offloading the CPU calls for RT based functions to the GPU, with be a near-future thing?

Hello DF team. With Elden Ring on PC receiving it's 8th patch since launch, and winning GoTY last night but it still having the same issues since launch with shader stutter, no above 60fps (mod fixed this within 24 hours) and no ultrawide, do you think any of this will ever be patched? You can fix some of this with mods but that gets you banned so you have to play offline, pretty absurd for one of if not the biggest PC game this year.

If Activision has promised to bring Call of Duty to Nintendo platforms for 10 years, does that imply the release of a ‘Switch 2’ next year (or at least the first year the deal is in effect)? The last time CoD was on a Nintendo console (WiiU) it could also run on the 360/PS3 generation of hardware, and if the base switch is the hardware target that seems like a steep porting task for a cross-platform multiplayer game.

Why is it called The Game Awards when there is more time spent showing off random celebrities than showing the actual awards?

Hi DF Team I am a fairly new supporter, but have been watching your content religiously over the last few years. I love your content and have yet to find another source that ditches the click bait topics and dooms day forecasting and still has high quality, and relevant content. I have a question about the ongoing shader compiler issues. Software development has been moving towards iterative coding and releases as an industry standard. This allows for higher quality software, but more important, allows the teams to mitigate risk related to end products. This a win for consumers of the software and the teams that create the software. Part of this process is testing. It is also iterative. This suggests that during the various development cycles, compilation issues won’t be very high… unless testing is done in some sort of container environment. Add to that the fact the many game assets are not final until late in the development process. How can a developer be expected to solve this issue, when the main issue to solve is making the game?

Hi DF team! Long-time watcher, first-time supporter. With the somewhat-recent movements in direct storage, could you ever see a future where GPUs have NVME slots on them? While gaming, you would have direct communication, and when not gaming, you'd have full 16x NVME communication with the CPU. Love the content, and can't wait to hear your recap of the game awards!

I know there was an AMD workstation card that could have M.2 drives plugged directly into it, but from my memory it was like $7,000 USD. I also wonder if it will come to "consumer level" graphics cards

Is DF doing their fave games/end of year lists again? And if so, when can we expect them?

With UE5 in Fortnite showing that it can bring the PS5 and XBSX below 900p in order to reach 60fps, do you think this will motivate a mid-gen refresh?
