The second of this week's DF Direct Specials is now available for early access to backers of our Supporter Program - but here's the first part of our Intel coverage, with more coming soon as Alex puts XeSS fully through its paces... and there's a very small teaser clip of what he's been up to in this Direct.

It's been a rocky road to market for Intel with its Arc range of graphics cards... and just over a year since Intel talked to us about it. In this extended interview, Alex and Rich talk to Intel Fellow Tom Petersen about the state of play with Intel Arc, what's going on with DX11, DX12, Vulcan and Resizeable BAR, plus there's new information on XeSS upscaling and what Intel says is best-in-class ray tracing performance. Also: just where will machine learning take us in the graphics space?

DF Direct Special: Inside Intel Arc - What's Happening With Graphics, XeSS and Ray Tracing?

Great interview! I really appreciated the questions around XeSS and I'm glad to hear they're taking the sharpening question back to think about. It's also great to hear that they've been talking with Microsoft about getting a standard integration of upscaling technologies, that does feel like the right long-term solution. And I'm really excited to hear an XeSS video is coming!

I love love love this. I am not a great defender or deep fan of Intel, but I super appreciate the transparency and depth provided here. Maybe a “State of Intel|AMD|NVidia” video once a year that includes a similar sit-down conversation and discusses hardware and software currently shipping, improvements and detriments, and forwarding along some Patreon questions?

Sooo good. Loved the fire side chat feel.
