The PC is talked a lot about as “a platform”, but that term is not used the same as it is for console, as there are potentially endless combinations of hardware used on the PC platform. When it comes to developing, is it easier for developers to make a game for, say, just console platforms (PS5, Xbox Series), OR just the PC? Are there certain advantages to the PC that make developing for infinite configurations not a nightmare?

Hi DF crew! Which quality-of-life features in video games have the biggest impact on your day-to-day work at Digital Foundry? Put another way: Are there any non-gameplay features that, when implemented in a game you are analyzing, positively or negatively affect your workflow? For example, I would assume that when a game supports cross-platform save files, it has tremendous benefits for personal productivity and scope of analysis.

Have you tried mouse and keyboards on consoles? If so, what's your opinion on it? Why do you think there's not much more support for them? I'm kinda baffled that all the Call of Duty games support them but the Doom games don't 😑

Playing games such as Killzone Shadowfall and Infamous Second Son on my PS5, I was happy to see their settings menus have options to increase the FPS cap to 60! Do you expect or wish that more games that arrive with 30FPS caps (such as UE5 releases) on current gen hardware should include an option uncap the framerate for futureproofing purposes at launch, rather than waiting for a patch?

I'm assuming john will answer this question, but what do think of Mike Chi's firmware update for the Retrotink 5x? I've been using the HDR implementation for the PS3, what consoles do you think benefit the most from this amazing feature?

Hello Guys First of all thanks for the great videos, your content, believe it or not, is what made me enter the game development world, so I'm currently a solo dev doing small games with the hope of doing something big soon. My question is what do you think an indie or AAA developer should focus the most on? Since graphics are already getting to the point of photorealism do you think development should be focused on something else? Maybe even more graphics? gameplay mechanics? what do you think?

Hi, I'm Ed Winchester. Oh wait, no I'm not. Anyway, this is one for John and the digital future and ownership - or lack there of. A friend ordered a tablet from Amazon for his children, yet received a spray bottle of cleaning product. He reported this to the Amazon CS, who told him to return it to them and they will send him the tablet he had ordered. This was the first time he had returned anything to Amazon. All good so far, except this is where the shenanigans started. He then got an email from Amazon saying his account had been closed due to multiple occurrences of abusing the returns. i.e. he had returned items that were not what was supposed to be returned. All attempts to speak to Amazon CS reps were unsuccessful in getting an explanation as to why his account was closed or getting his account reinstated. All of his movies, audio books, music purchases on Amazon were now gone. With his account closed, he couldn't access any of that. Fortunately, via Twitter and retweets by some prominent Youtubers, he was able to get in touch with someone at Amazon who was able to unravel this mess and get his account reinstated and (eventually) access to his purchases. Let this be a warning to everyone, the digital future may be very convenient now but if the platform holder decides you've done something wrong and close/delete your account then you lose everything you had on that platform. Some unscrupulous person or people accuse you of using nasty language in an online game and the platform holder then bans your account, what can you do?!

Has DF ever discussed that Mohammed Bin Salman owns SNK? https://kotaku.com/snk-saudi-arabia-mohammed-bin-salman-mbs-king-of-fighte-1848754233 What do you think this means for the future of neo-geo preservation and the industry as a whole?

Hello DF! Have any of you guys checked out 86 Box? With Alex's recent look at older PC hardware, it would be interesting to hear your opinions on this emulated offering.
