This looks so promising. Honestly, abandoning native res + MSAA is music to my ears. Feels like the only real visual complaints I have with Forza Horizon 5 are due to the lack of TAA.

I imagine another performance save is blending the base cube map & RT, with the cars being the only things in the bvh structure and ray traced - much like Horizon 5. The cars in the reflections looked very flat shaded without shadowing too, likely saving important ms of rendering time

I wonder if they plan to support FSR2.x on console or TAA. Then maybe DLSS & FSR2 on pc.. or even something else that's custom but also temporal similar to XeSS but not XeSS. They did hire for that. Cars also had self shadowing. T10 are tech wizards but I don't think they would leave such an important visual feature out but then add subsurface scattering to comes or add self shadowing 3d trees you don't really see while driving. There's self shadowing in the video thumbnail taken from the showcase.

A year from launch they have lot of optimization to do and will likely experiment with different forms of AA like TAA, FSR2 etc. As for shadows they definitely had self shadowing.
