Content

Well, hello there! It's Monday, the DF team has reconvened after the weekend and we've been talking #content. It's a pretty basic week, so let's get right down to it! But yes, we did actually receive code for Grand Theft Auto 5 today, though it looks like only the PS5 version works right now (smart delivery is a bit of a tricky beast on Xbox vis a vis release dates).

* Alex is working on a breakdown of what the new Grand Theft Auto 5 releases actually do on the next generation of consoles. That boils down to last-gen vs current-gen comparisons but perhaps more interestingly, how the new version betters the PC edition at max settings.

* Tom is taking point on platform comparisons. Since we expect the audience to want content sooner rather than later, PS5 and Series X get priority and we'll follow up with a look at Series X vs S. He's also finishing up a video on Triangle Strategy for Switch.

* John is spending the week on the Gran Turismo episode for DF Retro. If you've been following his Twitter timeline, you'll be seeing how far and indeed wide he's going with this one.

* Oliver is just finishing up with GRID Legends, which we were in danger of overlooking when in actual fact... it's pretty impressive! His Assassin's Creed Ezio Collection Switch video leaves early access and goes live, likely tomorrow.

* Audi is working on another OG Xbox-themed DF Retro Play before moving on to a review of the Amiga Mini.

* Rich (ie me) is finishing up the long-in-development Elden Ring analysis on Steam Deck and then moves on to looking at the Deck running Windows. I mean, we all want to see Valley of the Ancient, Flight Simulator, Halo Infinite and Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition running on that! Any other requests?

Have a great week!

More OG Xbox DF Retro Play sounds good! As well as the Amiga Mini review.

The most important question for steam deck is: Can it run Crysis? I mean it probably does, but how well? :-)

Jeff R.

Rich, you definitely need to run Cyberpunk on the Steam Deck. Additionally, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Red Dead Redemption 2.

Maybe do a benchmark between Windows and SteamOS with Doom Eternal. Well optimized Vulkan-based game. Maybe one of the true-est forms of a real benchmark comparison between Steam Deck on SteamOS vs Windows.

Maybe not practical but it would be fun to compare the current gen versions of GTA 5 to the original 7th generation versions.

Any updates on the Playground Games piece, Rich?

Maybe dying light 1 with high settings and 60fps, and compare it to switch version. Also dying light 2 with the 30fps cap and maybe witcher 3 super high settings 60fps and compared to switch for handheld experience of the game.

I will continue to request info about Dosbox games running on deck.

Will you do a steamdeck FH5 on windows vs steam OS comparison?

I'd love to hear more info about the performance of Crysis (all versions)/Cyberpunk 2077/Doom (all versions)/Wolfenstein (all versions)/Bioshock (all versions)/Alien Isolation/Resident Evil (all versions) on Steam Deck. Many thanks!

Rich could you tell us how emulators perform on the Steam Deck especially... _checks Audi's notes_ all the Bubsy games.
