Content

Hey everyone, Rich here and it's an interesting state of affairs in that the content meeting essentially covers a big bunch of stuff that has non-disclosure agreements attached which mean that we can't talk much at all about our plans for this week. Nor can we confirm whether we even have code for some of this stuff, but let's just say that some titles inevitably only reach us on release day.

But let's just say that we'll be doing everything we can to get you the best coverage on Forza Horizon 5 and Call of Duty: Vanguard, while we'll also be examining the 12th generation of Intel Core architecture, stacking it up against the AMD alternatives and negotiating the minefield that is Windows 11.

Some stuff we can talk more definitively about:

* Alex has teamed up with the brilliant EposVox to discuss their thoughts on the Halo Infinite campaign re-reveal.

* Tom is circling back to take a look at how Guardians of the Galaxy shapes up on last-gen consoles bearing in mind the remarkable load it places on PS5 and Xbox series machines.

* More circling back! Our new contributor Oliver Mackenzie is taking a look at Tales of Arise. Now we have more resources, feel free to suggest any other titles we might have missed that you feel we need to look at.

That's about all we can talk about for now. We should be able to be a bit more forthcoming next week once all of these embargoes have lifted. Have a great week! Ours is certainly going to be a busy one!

I will always circle back for Rich

Really curious about the new Intels, but almost as much as the CPUs I'm curious about the impact of ddr5

I'm excited for Tales of Arise.

Off the top of my head, Back 4 Blood seems like it might be worth a look. Unreal engine game with high zombie character count running across two generations. Maybe not the most interesting or novel game, but Turtle Rock has a record of doing some quality graphics/engine work, ala their work on the ill-fated Evolve that ran on CryEngine. I also wouldn't mind seeing the PS5/Series X 60fps versions of For Honor get the DF once-over. They've been out forever, and run generally well, but I'd be curious if doing actual comparisons, there were any sacrifices made to hit 60fps, or likewise, every once and a while there seems to be small frame drops, but sometimes it's hard to be sure, especially on Xbox where I keep VRR active. Sable might be interesting too. Gorgeous game with mobius inspired art, but definitely has some performance issues and glitches. Would be curious to hear what you guys think is causing the performance issues, in particular. Weirdly, the demo they released in the summer actually ran more reliably/consistently for me than the shipping game. Wonder if they maybe pushed the settings too high for release? Or maybe it was just a one-off unexplained lucky playthrough?

Possibly a little late in the day, but I was looking forward to your coverage of Nier Replicant at the time. Clean and highly performant remake, great looking too; if simple.

Congratulations to Oliver once again. Great to see the team growing in one form or another.

Hey guys, unless I’ve missed it, I’m wondering if you’ll be having at look at the N64 emulation in the new Nintendo Switch Online tier. It really needs a deep dive to see where and why it’s falling short of expectation, I think.

I've mentioned this before, but Elder Scrolls Online with its next gen update and the later HDR fix patch is worth covering. If only for the outstanding colour differences in the HDR fix patch which is now an in game toggle. I can't access the supporter contributions post but I'm happy to provide video capture from PS5/PS4 versions of the game.

The in-game toggle for HDR takes the game from a WoW fantasy alike looking game to a more serious Skyrim colour palate(correct HDR). It's a pretty interesting feature alongside the next gen higher resolution and 60 fps option. Plus other upgrades. It's also a Bethesda game on PlayStation so will be interesting to see what support it continues to have.

We still getting the halo discussion this week? 👀

Same support as anywhere else. Microsoft has to honor Bethesda's contracts and support their games that are already out.
