Hey everyone, it's Rich. Man, it's been a punishing November, so apologies for the drop in Patreon updates. It's always busy this time of year, but console launches are never easy.

We've also been trying to push our craft a bit more, and refine what we're doing with HDR video. When we took a look at the Horizon Zero Dawn expansion, The Frozen Wilds, we knew we'd have to produce this video in full HDR - when the game looks this good, it would be criminal not to. John's final video is just brilliant, we'll be running it over the weekend and I wanted to share it with you early.

In addition to some beautiful Horizon HDR video, there's also more on the game engine, the rendering, the AI and the cloud cover system amongst other things. John and I went to Guerrilla Games earlier in the year and got an amazing briefing, and we can finally share some of that knowledge along with exclusive assets the studio supplied.

Ah, the link: https://www.digitalfoundry.net/2017-11-24-4k-hdr-horizon-the-frozen-dawn-tech-analysis

Hope you enjoy!

There should be many options for playing back HEVC 10-bit on iMac nowadays. All the best.

Thanks for the response. I did actually find that VLC 3.0 handles a 1080p HEVC file fine. I'm going to test 4k and report back. Edit: VLC 3 also handles 4k HEVC; best to close anything else though as it takes a big chunk out of CPU.

Please help DF. I subscribe to watch your videos on my iMac as I do not have a 4K screen yet. The format of the HEVC files have not been an issue as you always provide mp4 as well. This video is only in HEVC. Could you release a PC/Apple compatible file format as well for HEVC?
