Hey guys, John here. The 20 minute video mentioned yesterday was indeed a look at the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. Seeing as it involves the Naughty Dog originals it turned into a kind of pseudo-DF Retro. I spent countless hours lining up shots with the original PlayStation versions of Crash and think the end results are fascinating as you get a real sense of how things have evolved.

Which is what brings us to a little bonus treat for Patreon users! We decided to go ahead and upload a pair of videos showcasing several levels worth of play in this side by side configuration. This way you can enjoy seeing the difference between PS1 and PS4 without being interrupted by cuts. All of the videos were encoded at a full 4K60 as well so you'll be seeing PS4 Pro running at its best stacked up against the 240p originals.

Here's the links! This one is for Crash 3 and includes a solid five or six levels.

The second is for Crash 1 and 2:

Hopefully you guys enjoy them!

There's more stuff coming in the next few days as well!

For one thing, I'm working on a different sort of DF Retro episode for Sunday. Soul Reaver and Doom will require more time to complete so, instead, we're going to look back at the Super NES while discussing the SNES Mini. It's a great excuse to go back through the games included with the Mini and assess those which are technically impressive for the platform. Also planning to look at other impressive games which didn't make the cut. The episode is still being written but hopefully it'll be an enjoyable time!

Thank you! I played Crash when the first one came out in 96, and I just pre-ordered the remake. DF Retro Chrono Trigger, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, and Secret of Mana for your Super SNES video? I'm enjoying the Patreon exclusives!

Hi guys, just became a patron- love your work. Sorry if this is not the best place, but Im unable to download your 4k videos- keep getting download errors in chrome and firefox. Do you have step by step instructions anywhere to download your videos? Cheers.

Hey Brent! We are working on this very problem! We'll post more about it once we get it all figured out.
