On our field trip to see Across the Spiderverse, they restarted the movie after the first 18 minutes. All 150 kids sat raptured twice for that opening sequence.

I think the point is that Gwen and Peter B.'s actions feel icky, bc they are. They've drifted so far from what they told Miles "a Spiderman" should be in service of their own goals and desires. Peter B. is going along for the community of Spiderpeople, seemingly for his fears of being a parent of Mayday with her powers, and Gwen is operating from fear and extreme trauma (her dad pulled a gun on her and thinks she killed Lizard Peter) while idolizing a woman that seems to have a lot of baggage in Jessica Drew. They clearly get it together by the end but they aren't being their own definition of "Spiderman".
