POBT santa work has been going a bit slow (so sick of the holidays). But I've been updated assets to the latest version, and cleaning up the code and project structure, organizing everything.

I've also been experimenting with psx style shaders, for a more authentic retro style (the type when the textures warp and stretch). Thinking of trying to do a lost first person japanese horror game. Actual example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bh1W5iIXIRo

Story: 1982 several young women have been disappearing from Philip's Department Store. Two years later, the police receive a series of snuff video tapes in the mail. The case then goes cold

Fast forward to the mid 90's, a trashy Geraldo style primetime news show is doing a piece on the story. The store has long since closed, so they sneak in to get the scoop. But they quickly learn they're not alone as somebody seals the exit and the crew starts disappearing one by one.

Is this something you guys are interesting in seeing this month? Or would you rather I push ahead with Planet of Bloodthirsty Santa? Let me know in the comments!

I personally would love the First Person Japanese Horror game, but I also love the POBTS demos. So either one you find more passion in right now I would not mind at all.

Mate. Whatever your inspired too do... But to be selfish, I would rather you finish the three previous games first.

Agree, when inspiration strikes, you gotta do what feels right. That being said, I wouldn't mind more POBTS 😊

I love this concept and the HellNight vibes but I think it would be best for you to get a finished game out there before starting something new, for publicity if nothing else. So my vote is for POBTS, as soul destroying as it might be to work on at this point :p

Personally I would work on this instead of POBTS. Use this game to improve your skills, THEN go back to POBTS and if you're lucky you can have it ready for Christmas 2018. Releasing a Santa Claus themed videogame outside the holiday season might not be the best idea...just my opinion anyway.

Yeah maybe POBTS time has passed this year, could go back to Nightripper maybe? Or even MCM

I agree that the fans and let's players need a full finished game to play. Although this game is one exception to let pass for a Christmas 2018 release (say finished in full and released a week before). I truly believe that puppet combo would be an indie force to be reckoned with if it had a good list of full finished games. Japanese fps should definitely be on that list too though.

The one big flaw in POBTS is every time you die you have to walk up that hill from the ship and do that awkward platforming, every single time. It's fun the first time but after a couple of deaths I just end up giving up

Anonymous

a checkpoint somewhere up the hill would be very welcome

I dig the first person perspective. What if you just took the space idea and ran with it in a different direction than the Santa theme? That way you could recycle the ship and protagonists.

puppetcombo

I did consider that. but it's hard to think of something that could take Santa's place

puppetcombo

Have you tried the version 0.1.4? Going up the hill should be a lot easier now. There is actually a checkpoint when you reach the village

Anonymous

I'm not sure. I'll DL the new version and let you know. The last version I played, I didn't even make it to the villiage because i got so frustrated with repeating that opening climb

Abominable snowman like from the movie "snow beast" with a sci fi twist?! I still like the Santa one though as well.
