Continuing The Rise of Bangtan series on Wednesdays since the Disney+ docu is over.

I loved this episode!  So many iconic moments and put a few things into perspective.

Nice reaction Austin! I'd like to suggest watching the live performance of Attack on Bangtan Japan epilogue. I forgot if you've seen it already, but it's a can't miss performance.

RM and his mother are cool - she didn't support him at first, but he was able to convince her to let him give it a chance and she definitely changed her mind. Suga's parents also didn't support him, but eventually came around... and Hobi had the same problem with his dad when he started pursuing dance. It's definitely a case of them just wanting their kids to go for the "easier" careers, that don't feel like such a gamble. Also, YAY! I'm glad to still have a Wednesday BTS video with you! And yeah, no worries that it's not your first reaction to every bit of content in the documentary - since you've watched all their docs and their series, there's going to be quite a few clips that you've already seen.

Rise of Bangtan just gets better and better as it goes. I'm so excited to have these to look forward to each Wednesday!

i think only the maknae line had supportive parents right away or very early on. the older members had to deal with their parents not supporting them for a bit (besides jhopes mom i think she supported him right away but his dad didnt) jin had mentioned his mom wouldnt say anything when other mothers of his friends would brag about their sons so he wanted to make her proud too. the hyung line all seem to have/had parental trauma. rm and suga had it rough with their parents especially suga. i think suga had run away from home at one point and as we know from his lyrics he wasnt loved enough as a kid and his parents had a lot of health issues too and were very poor. as someone in a similar situation i get it but parents shouldnt contribute to more hardship cause it will prolong any success for their kid regardless of whatever path is chosen. i think itll touch more on their parents in more chapters. i think hyung lnes parents are more traditional since theyre older and maknae lines parents are younger so less traditional.

I believe RM's mom ended up buying him a new mic.

ugh, that one interview with b free and the other underground rappers...i always roll my eyes at the makeup comment. like, i can kind of understand where they're coming from with thinking that idols are an industrialized notion even though i don't fully agree, but they completely lost me with the blatant misogyny and homophobia and just overall disrespect lmao

This was a great episode. N.O. - The song that made me look at BTS differently. As an Asian, I heard when they debuted but dismissed them as like another Kpop group. But what they're saying in N.O. is definitely relatable, especially for a scholar student or any student trying to survive basically. Then that interview with other rappers, Ugh! Was so big of Namjoon and Yoongi to remain calm all throughout that. They have definitely made those people eat their words. Anywho, can't wait for you, Austin, to see the rest of the chapters. It'll keep getting better. 💜💜💜
