I'm going back and forth with myself as to whether I should have a pdf-only reward for the Castle of the Mad Archmage Kickstarter that starts this Saturday.

My thinking is, it's supposed to be a really special, one-of-a-kind thing. If there are pdfs floating around it cheapens it.

On the other hand, I'm very sure there are people who would balk at the $100 price of the book, and I don't want to leave them out in the cold.

Either way, people who get the print book would also get a pdf.

I'm going to want both, so I voted for allowing a PDF only pledge for those folks who really are digital only folks. I often am, myself, except for special items, like this one!

It's really nice to have both options. A lot of Dms use Pdfs for their Vtt games like myself. Even though I love my printed books :p

Some people may not have the cash so no issues with a PDF. Let the happiness flow!

What everyone else said. Some people will only want a pdf option. (not me though).

If you're going to have PDFs available to those that purchase hard copies, you might as well sell PDFs to those that are willing to pay for PDFs only. I won't really cost you anything extra, why leave free money on the table?

I usually go pdf for run-of-the-mill items. But for big specialty things I like both. I do think allowing a pdf only option will expand your readership.

Its 2023. Tying a reward to a print book is like asking me to communicate with you by telegram or landline only.

Depends if the PDF of the 10th anniversary book would be any different from the PDF of the original book. They could easily buy a PDF of the old one. But if you’re going to go to the trouble to make it available, then make it available.
