Thrommel was rescued in my campaign and apparently many others, so the authors of the later Greyhawk products can go pound sand. Gygax stated in a later forum interview that the Archcleric served St. Cuthbert, which is why he was so prominent with Y’Dey and Terjon in the local Hommlet (Verbobonc, Veluna) temple, which I also went with. Gygax never developed any of the Flan pantheon in his sourcebooks outside of Obad-Hai and Nerull (and I don’t consider Iuz as Flan), so I never gave Rao much weight in my game.
