I remade a painting that bothered me ever since I finished making it. I spent most of the process fighting with the pose and as a result, it just didn’t have the energy that I wanted it to have. I still loved the color combination and the flowers at the bottom, though. So I decided to give it another shot and start fresh with a new pose and stylization approach. I’m much happier with this version, although it's a more cartoony approach so I’m guessing some of you will still prefer the old version. What do you think? Do you ever re-draw a piece tha you finished quite recently?

Your animation background really shows through in your work! Such beautiful swoops, rhythms and and movements in your paintings!! And your pieces always feel like there’s a lot of depth to the story that the audience can’t see but can definitely feel! So wonderful!!

I always loved the colors in this one, the new version feels like it has a lot more movement and energy, I can see why you wanted to redo it :) Getting the 'right' pose can definitely be a challenge at times <3

I’ve been redrawing old drawings of mine lately, I’ve found it really calming and inspiring. It’s kind of reminding me of how fun drawing can be as I’m going through a sort of block rn :/

I thought that you can't do any better. Your drawings were ideal. But there is a huge line economy improvement! I appreciate it so much

I really love the colors and shapes!!! I have a similar body type, and it's always nice to feel represented in my favorite art styles.

They have very different energies to me. The figure in the old one seemed to be startled that someone stumbled into her wood while this one seems to invite me to take a look around in her magical world. I like the change a lot.

I love both! The old one is like she's cautiously but confidently emerging from the forest, she's discovered something new, is looking around curiously. This one seems to be more grounded but powerful, crackling with energy. I love them both!

Wow looks great! More movement in the new version. I enjoy repainting old ideas a lot.

thank you! i feel the same, I felt more confident while drawing it and that shows in the pose too.

thanks! i think that happens automatically for me when i'm more confident in the choices I make. I tend to have a messier process when I'm not sure of what I'm doing!

i always recommend such exercises when you're feeling blocked! it tends to be a positive reminder of how far we've come and prevents you from comparing yourself to others too much.

yes! this was one of those situations where i spent so much time fighting with the pose that i didn't want to face the fact that it needed a fresh start!
