I‘m astonished about how little you add to turn ok sketches to interesting characters! This is so back to the basics, appears even easy. Even though you mentioned often, that most artistic choices are made early in the process, in this tutorial I could see, how early a sketch goes wrong (no offense, I have the same issues). I take from this tutorial to not even start any details, colors or whatsoever, before my simple sketch hasn‘t the right focus and personality. I definitely have to practice the first 10 minutes of a drawing most. It seems to be the most rewarding part to learn properly. Thanks! I really liked the idea of paintovers!

Hi Loish! I found very useful this video because you can show us your approach to show volume and readability, I feel overwhelmed sometimes for doing it perfect that I can’t see little details like the ones you show , that change incredibly a draw. I love all the work you show from our fellow patrons , please do more of this videos , it is a great way to learn from you !!!!

Love the paint overs. It really shows how quickly a few choices can clarify and improve the readability of a drawing. It's like you're wielding a magic wand! You make it look so easy and simple. Very inspiring.

Oh thank for this, it's really cool to see you do a draw over to explain point you want to show, I think it's really important because, as you said, you know your art but when it's someone else it's need crack, it's much harder to understand what you do wrong especially if the style isn't the same. But by drawing over it help to understand how to translate it better. Thank you for that and continue do these (paint over tutorials), I find it really helpful ~

Such an amazing tutorial ❤ Thank youu!!

Loish

thanks jason! it is a lot easier to do paintovers than build a drawing from the ground up. I've definitely struggled with drawing faces so often in the past. sometimes getting some outside perspective is what helps!

Loish

so glad you found it helpful! that's often the case for me - that when i'm struggling with the face, it's because i haven't really established the right volumes and shapes early on. but it's always possible to fix that later, sometimes it just means painting over it like i did in this tutorial!

Toujours aussi riche et formateur ! Merci Loish !💖💖💖

Oh Lila

Amazing tutorial, thank you. May I ask if some of you know good ressources to practice drawing faces from different angles ? I know this is something I need to practice to get better at understanding volumes but I struggle to find good references, especialy to work faces from extremes angles.

Loish

thanks for your kind words! i get most of my reference from adorkastock or just searching for "woman looking up" and similar search terms to get results that are helpful to me. hope this helps!
