It’s the end of the month, which means time for me to participate in the monthly challenge for flame members! This month we made a master study together. I chose to do a master study of Carmen, the Duchess of Montmorency by Franz Xaver Winterhalter! The idea was to not just copy the original artwork, but also try to pick an area of focus beforehand to create our own interpretation. I wanted to capture the warm glow and creamy color treatment of the original! It was actually a lot harder than I thought it would be but I really enjoyed the process!

I loved seeing what the flame members made for this challenge! If you created artwork for this challenge but haven’t shared it in the discord server yet, definitely hop in and post your study in the monthly-challenges channel!

Flame members will also get the full process video plus a resource with some tips and advice for creating master studies. That’s coming up soon, so keep an eye on the feed! I’ll also be posting next month’s challenge on wednesday. Just like last month’s challenge, it will include:

  • Tips and suggestions
  • Reference images
  • Inspiration images
  • A list of resources to help you complete the challenge
  • A bonus challenge for those who want to invest more time

If you want to participate and you’re not yet a flame member, be sure to upgrade your membership to get access to the challenge! If you want to upgrade, it’s best to do it on the 2nd so that you don’t get double charged (it’s a weird patreon issue, sorry about that!).

For now, I hope you like this master study ❤ Hope you all have a fantastic week!
