Hey flame patrons! It was yet another lovely Q&A session, thanks to everyone who joined in the chat!

Topics covered are:

  • Technical: my video setup, life drawing tips, how I organize my files
  • My experiences with a drawing injury and how I overcame it
  • Portfolio tips & how I arrange my own portfolio site
  • How I came up with my online name & how I manage my online popularity
  • Tips for artists who get overwhelmed with reference, don’t know how to draw things without reference, and can’t visualize their own finished artwork during the process
  • Inspiration / motivation behind 3 of my favorite paintings that I’ve made
  • Goals: my artistic goals, tips for those just starting out, and advice for those who set too many goals and find it hard to accomplish them all
  • Video games and whether it’s helpful for artists to play them
  • Self help book tips

For the next session, feel free to drop any questions you might have into the #ask-loish channel on discord, or post it below - I'll go through them and try to answer as many of them as I can during next month's Q&A session! Also, I plan to do next month’s session on a Saturday for those who struggle to join on a weekday, so keep an eye out for more info on that!

Have a great weekend everyone ❤

I also freak out over body pain caused by injury!! my partner has a really similar mindset that the mind and body are super interlaced so I'm glad to know i'm not alone on this but also i do think that making sure to have a goal of balance is good. Thank you for taking the time to answer all these questions!!! C:

I loved this Q&A. I also loved being part of it live this time. You're so adorable. Such insight in this. It really helped me click things together in a different order than I've been stuck in for a while, and it's helping me realize I need to think of things differently. I appreciate all that you do and the help you provide all of us. You're an amazing person.

I'm really glad you enjoyed it! thanks for joining the session :)

no problem at all! I think the theory of mind and body being interconnected is helpful if you've been focusing too much on the body for a while (which is what I did). it basically leads to missing a big piece of the puzzle! I'm glad you enjoyed the session!

2023-03-10 16:32:18 A very nice Q&A! I had my first-ever injury for 2 months due to my irresponsibility with my body, and will also create my portfolio this year (Sweating nervously rn). ANYWAY: Thank you <3 Hope you have a fantastic February. PS: Shoutout to the Boris file. I'm sure father Boris did not take offense~

haha thank you! and don't be nervous, if you break it down into smaller tasks and take lots of breaks, then it will be manageable and not so hard on your body!

That was my same complaint about LightBox, but I was tabling so I wasn't going to make it to a talk anyways, but several people I talked to ended up having that happen and they missed another talk they could have tried getting into because they were waiting for another they didn't get into. :-/ My annoyance was that my table got blocked by the artist next to me. Which is not the fault of the artist, but it sucked that I was sitting there with a line blocking my table from others. I sat there for a good hour of that happening. In the survey I suggested they have people walking the floors looking for that sort of thing and guiding the lines a little away from the tables so they aren't blocking someone else.

that is really good feedback. I feel like the event's strength (so many artists there, so much to do) is also its weakness (crowded, chaotic and difficult to see what you want to see). hopefully we'll have some improvements next year!
