It's the end of the month once again and summer is in full swing here. We've had a few super hot days already and a LOT of bugs! Here's how this month has gone for me:

VACATION

In the first two weeks of this month, I was on vacation inItaly. Ever since I made a painting that was based on Seceda in the Italian Alps, I knew that I wanted to go there one day. So we went at the beginning of June, and also spent a week in Tuscany. It was so beautiful there! You can find photos of the trip in the first two highlights of my instagram stories, and here are some photos as well:

GETTING BACK INTO THE FLOW

I didn’t draw while on vacation, and now that I've returned, it’s time for me to get back into the flow of drawing. I have this every time I haven’t drawn for a while: I feel rusty and totally out of ideas! Usually after creating a few different drawings, I can feel the inspiration slowly come back, but I’m not there yet. So for now I’m sticking to comfort zone stuff and riding this phase out. Do you ever find yourself stuck in a short artblock? What activities helped you through it?

As always, thanks so much for your support! I'll be sending out links to this month's google drive folder today. If you have any feedback or questions, please feel free to share them with me through a direct message or e-mail to loishh@gmail.com. Any and all feedback is welcome! I hope you’ll continue to be my patron and enjoy the content coming up next month! ❤

I am waiting for tomorrow to come and I will finally become your patreon 😁 I am so excited!!! 🥺

I saw everything on your IG stories and I'm so jealous! Wish to visit Italy next year 😁 whenever I have artblock I'm trying to get back to basics and sketching poses, faces, sometimes listening to stories in podcasts (mostly horror in my case) inspires me to draw a scene from the podcast 😁

I'm so glad you had a break, must've been amazing just looking around and just chilling 🙌 can't wait for the next few poses... will you ever do mentoring or a discord?

Ahh! Your vacation looks like it was lovely! I hope you had fun! For me the only thing that helps art block is going on walks!

Loish

yayy!! thanks for considering this patreon to join :) be sure to wait until the end of the day or maybe even july 2nd to avoid being double charged, sometimes patreon still charges twice if it's too close to the previous month ^^;

Loish

good tips! i'm also just drawing some faces and getting back into the flow of digital art. fictional podcasts for inspiration is actually such a great idea. i have that with music too sometimes!

Loish

hey chei! thanks so much! i'm not doing mentoring at all but i have been working on a discord, just haven't had time to really take the next steps yet. but you'll probably see one in the future!

Loish

good advice! i try to take a morning walk a few times a week, it usually helps to get my thoughts going!

I’m glad you had fun! I loved watching your vacation IG stories! For me, when I need to get back in the swing of art after a while I’ll draw some funky blobs, and then see what kind of creatures/faces I can make inside those shapes! It’s a fun way to doodle and push the limits of what looks right

I am glad you had a great holiday and thank you for sharing so much of it with us on instagram. When I am stuck, I usually first take it as an incentive to clean my desk 😅 and then pick up something to read or watch or do that is slightly outside of my usual interests to get some fresh input. But since you just were on a holiday you probably already have a lot of new impressions and ideas, so maybe something inspired by the holidays? Artistic impressions of all the delicious food you showed perhaps. =)

When I can’t create, traveling always helps :) new lights, scents, colors, sounds… new music also, it often recharge my batteries and I can go back to being inspired and motivated. Tuscany is a wonderful place - didn’t it make you want to draw?

Loish

that sounds amazing! i loved tuscany, but it didn't make me want to draw. when i'm travelling, i'm just more focused on being in the moment or taking lots of pictures. for me drawing is something i do to get away from the world around me, and when i'm travelling, i want to really be there!

Very glad you enjoyed your vacation. So much charm and majesty...the eggplant looks really good too! Thank you as always for sharing your journey with us.

Oh that’s interesting and also makes a lot of sense! I take a lot of photos, and one of the things that makes me want to draw is when the photos don’t give the feeling/landscape justice and I want to change things… when I’m burnt out with photography (which is ma passion and my full time job), I take breaks, do other creative things. I know I always come back to it but sometimes you have to go another direction to learn new things that you can later incorporate to your other passions/hobbies. Like drawing, calligraphy, composition, storytelling… I love how you feel like you learn other things sometimes and it end up being a piece of the puzzle of the original passion.

Your vacation looks enchanting! 😍 It's great to hear that you got to visit and enjoy Italy. I definitely understand the art block. Two things that get me thru it: photography (zoo trip or hiking) and automatic drawing/doodling. I hope it passes quickly for you. Good luck!

That looks sooo good! I wish I could go on Vacation but I just started an internship for a tiny animation studio in Leipzig... so I hope I can at least manage to go on the weekend into the woods and just draw.

Loish

congrats! sounds like it will be a great learning experience!

Thank you! Yes it is so far a lot!! I am able to work on real projects and storyboarding. It's absolutely exciting having so much responsibility. But I slag off in painting atm... I had to rewatch your procreate flow tutorial again because I forgot to paint... ahahaha...

To me it helps to let it like it is. Sometimes i am so without ideas and motivation that i just can lay in bed and do nothing. It helps me to get drunk and restart my mind with friends. Also i got blocked always once i got too analytical in approach. After COVID almost killed me in hospital i came back home and felt like intuition and feeling is my new life setting. It must be much harder for you when you make money out of your production, remember we love all your outcome. It doesnt has to be perfect or better than other patreon creators, we love the style of Loish, not the perfection of Loish. We love the way you see the world and the way you make tutorials and art. Its enough and it will be. You are original as you are.

Loish

thank you so much petr! such kind words :) i think your comment is really interesting because it shows how a 'reset' can be inspiring and boost creativity. sometimes bad things in our lives can do that for us.

What’s a ‘google drive folder’? I’m new to Patreon so still learning how to navigate

it's a link that you get through DMs every month. if you click on it you'll see a list of the files that were generated that month.
