I saw some gorgeous seafoam/wave sketches by Henry Wong and was inspired to do some studies as well. I just love how he captures the volumes and color variation, it’s really inspiring! So that’s what I tried to do here, I don't know if I succeeded but it was definitely a fun study to do. I also posted a little snippet of the process over on twitter.

It’s fascinating how you are able to make painting water look so easy when it’s absolutely not 😂 I thought painting realistically was hard, but stylizing is even harder it seems 😅

that is honestly something I felt as well! while painting, i really had to steer it away from realism to keep the stylized look, and it's still less stylized than I wanted it to be :')
