Diving back into Procreate for this one! I love using textured brushes with this app, so here are some head studies with some nice, gritty, traditional-feeling brushes. They are mostly Maxpacks brushes, specifically the gouache set! I feel like procreate and the ipad are great tools for just doodling in a more 'traditional way' like this.

thanks! fortunately the packing & managing of the artbook orders isn't being done by me, but by 3dtotal :) so i'm just chilling over here! they should arrive in april, so it's a little bit before they're sent out. i'll check in with 3dtotal and get an update from them soon!

Love the greyscale! And yes the MaxPacks Gouache Set is my favorite brush set! So good! The watercolor set is nice too, but I haven't had a chance to play around with it as much. Great work as always!

Love your artwork, Loish! Btw do you have a Discord server? Some artists do, and I was wondering if you have one too

My favorite brush set by far is the Charcoal set by LaneDraws. It's so good. I highly recommend it.

Yess I love the MaxPacks! I found out recently that I was two months late to the big update of the Gouache and Essential packs and I spent the weekend messing around with them.

Wonderfully reflective of your style. I like the "rake" strokes in particular. Not too sure about the right hand shadow on the cheek of the blonde female in the larger image. Is it the shadow of her hair or just extravagant cheekbones ? ;-)

Loish

i'm honestly not sure myself, looking at it now haha. it is quite dramatic, i agree!

Loish

ohh thanks for this! i was actually thinking about looking for some nice charcoal-type brushes.

Loish

hey jose! i don't have one yet, I want to create one but I'm still figuring out the details / how to make it work!

These are *STUNNING.* I love the combination of the gritty texture with your feminine, float lines - the juxtaposition is incredible.

Mimi

Could you tell us what specific brushes in the gouache pack you used for this? I always plan to try them all, but it would be helpful to know which ones you used given how many there are in the pack, and how nice this turned out :)

Loish

thanks mimi! i'm not sure exactly which ones I used unfortunately. I just clicked on random ones and trested them out as I went. I find the 'brisle', 'gutterpunk' and 'clean' ones the most appealing to use, hope that helps somehow!
