Hey Patreon buddies! I've gotten a lot of feedback from you guys on what kind of tutorial topics you'd like to see in my monthly videos, and I've worked through the most popular options. I'm now at a point where I need to generate some more ideas for videos, and wanted to check in with you on what you'd like to see. I have two questions for you:

1. What do you struggle with in your art right now? Anything you'd like to see a resource or video about?

2. What kind of monthly video would you like to see from me? I can continue to make tutorials, but I'm also open to other types of video content, like a livestream drawing session or studio tour. If there's anything specific you want to see, let me know!

My main reason for asking is because I want to get a sense of what you guys are interested in and make sure the video content aligns with what my patrons want :) Any feedback would be awesome! You can comment below or also send a DM or email to loishh@gmail.com. Thanks so much for reading! ♥

I personally struggle most with identifying what I want to improve in my work and what is working well for me. I really enjoyed the content and story behind your recent fall landscape painting. I love seeing where other people get stuck and how they chose to resolve something (and I even love hearing that you're still not sure about it). I think it helps me improve my artistic eye but it also helps me to feel less alone and like this is just part of the grind. Hopefully that makes sense!

hey safaa! that's a great idea and something a lot of folks have suggested! i prefer photoshop, but procreate is a great app and more accessible to most artists. i have not yet tried photoshop on the ipad unfortunately!

How do you deal with art block? What exercises can one do to break out of it perhaps? Also, sometimes I have so many ideas but am not able to act on any. I feel so overwhelmed by the idea of starting that I end up doing none. What are your everyday struggles as an artist and how do you deal with them? Sorry if this is a bit vague as a topic, hopefully it made some sense. Thanks!

Loish

this is great! thank you so much for sharing this with me :)

I am late to this post, but I'd just like to add I would love to see a resource on visualising forms in 3D! I struggle with breaking down reference photos into 3D shapes and therefore my drawings look flat as a result. Any tips on this would be appreciated ! Thank you :)

your tutorial videos are so excellent!! Some possible topics that I would be interested in: - how to draw a single character in lots of different poses/with lots of different expressions while keeping them looking like the same consistent character - how to get faster/more efficient at drawing

Hi Loish! I would love to see more tutorials about lighting subjects. How do you decide what color of light to use and how you mix it? You use so many vibrant colors, I love it, but I always struggle to understand the thought process and how it works.

Loish

that's a great subject beatriz! I'll definitely add that to the list. for now, there's a "simple tricks for lighting & mood" tutorial that might help give some insights: https://www.patreon.com/posts/tutorial-video-41372669

I hope it’s not too late to add suggestions! Could you show how to make a painting look vintage? ( especially in Procreate) There’s a lot of appeal in vintage art and Gibson Girls in art. I especially loved your portrait of Evelyn Nesbit a while back.

2023-01-16 05:57:29 that's a fun one! I'll add it to the list, but for now, I feel like it's a lot about the colors - using the faded sepia / black & white tones from old photographs!
