Earlier this month, I sat down to create an autumn-themed painting, but I wasn’t happy with where it was going. It just felt too empty to me, and more like a random study than a proper painting.  I ended up ditching it and drawing this image instead!

A few days ago, I revisited this study and tried to fix it up so that it felt more like a companion piece to the ghost painting. I’m still ambivalent about it, but it feels more alive to me than before! Here’s the final result as well as some WIP shots so you can see what it looked like when I decided to stop working on it!

Ahhh dreamy!! That little leaf trail blowing in the wind is just the cherry on top 👌

Wow.. it’s so beautiful. It makes me feel like I'm walking in this forest. I can feel the wind on my face. Amazing 🙌🏻🍁🧡

I absolutely love the way you use the textures of the brushes in these paintings <3

The cropped version on the second image is my favourite! But I love, in the full image, how you can add so much life to a painting that already looked finished to me

beautiful! I think your fall paintings are my favorite :)

Those fall vibes mmmm! I love the warm and cool tones in this, it has so much depth! Also the use of texture in the organic elements looks fantastic. Keep up the amazing work Lois, you're always an inspiration ❤️

This piece really stood out to me! Something about the bright yellow against the cooler blue tone background really pops and feel so pleasant together. Reminds me that something about your intuition with the use of color in a piece could make a great tutorial video topic!! I struggle with that a lot. Your tutorials on skin tone and how you choose color were super useful already, I won’t mind another one on color eg. how color sets a mood/impacts composition etc. 💛

Beautiful! I love it!

that's a really interesting idea! i've done one on choosing colors before (https://www.patreon.com/posts/tutorial-colors-39277902) but it's very focused on finding nice color combinations for character art. having one about mood and atmosphere would be fun to do as well!

I love this! The vibrant yellow leaves, the little mushrooms and the breeze.. It's like I'm being trasported to this magical autumn moment (which I need, being mostly inside due to fog and general lack of sun)

Do you think you could please record a process video for a scene this like, Forest imagery is so difficult to me because I never know where to start and then separating the values becomes hard especially when trying to do a night scene. this is amazing 😭😍

Loish

I know what you mean!! I recorded the process for this one so I can definitely put together a process vid for this painting!

Loish

oof, I get what you mean. I've barely been outside in the last couple of weeks because it's been so rainy. I crave a good autumn walk!

Did I miss the process video?
