Here’s part 2 of 3 for Flow! You can find part 1 here. Just like with the previous video, this one is sped up to twice the original speed, and you can adjust the speed with the gear button.

For this part of the process, I’m mostly just rendering and painting. I’m working on one layer, and in the layer panel you can see that I have older versions of the painting ‘underneath’ the newest version, so I can click the layer on/off to compare it to previous steps. Lately I’ve been trying to make my rendering process less about smoothing things out, and more about adding interest and dimension to my painting. So I’m painting more in “chunks” and triangular shapes, and resisting the urge to blend everything together. At the same time, I’m also cleaning up any messy edges / lines left over from rougher stages of the painting.

Around 47 minutes in, I bring in a rake brush. This brush is literally just a few dots arranged vertically to form a rake shape. Lately I’ve been really enjoying this brush to add some movement to the painting! Although I have to be careful not to overdo it, which is why I’m painting these strokes on a separate layer - so I can always erase some areas that feel overdone.

Hope you like it! Part 3 is coming right up!

May I ask which rake brush you use? I absolute love the effect it creates. Thanks in advance!
