It's almost time for the month of drawing challenges! October is one of my favorite months of the year, because I love the autumn and also it's my birthday on the 11th! Bring it on ~ but first I gotta wrap up this month! Here’s a quick review of how September went for me:

FIRST AUTUMN DAYS

Autumn has always been so intensely inspiring to me. Something about the seasons changing, and the beautiful colors, always made me want to capture that in my art. You can see that in some of my sketches this month: more and more of those autumn tones are finding their way into my art. I’m really excited to channel this inspiration into my work in the coming months!

NEW TECHNIQUES

When working on this month’s digital painting, tackling the snake skin was very new for me and I tried out some new techniques to achieve it. Basically I created a snakeskin pattern with the lasso tool, warped it over the shape of the snake, and made a mask to add color to those shapes and blend them in. I feel so much more free to experiment with new techniques now that I have the time to really focus on these paintings, and I think this is boosting the detail level in my paintings. I’ll make a little step-by-step explaining how I did that in the coming weeks!

PROCREATE

This month I posted my Procreate commission and process video. I’ve noticed that I’m getting more and more questions about this software! Most of my tutorial content is focused on using Photoshop but next month I will be focusing more on Procreate. I will make my monthly tutorial about it, and I’m also wrapping up the editing of my ideation process for the commission, which was also done in Procreate. So for those of you who want to learn more about how I use it, you can expect more content about that in October!

As always, thanks so much for your support! I'll be sending out links to this month's google drive folder today. If you have any feedback or questions, please feel free to share them with me through a direct message or e-mail to loishh@gmail.com. Any and all feedback is welcome! I hope you’ll continue to be my patron and enjoy the content coming up next month! ❤

Ahhh!! Procreate tutorial! Would love to see it! I wonder how you use both old and new features! And if you use shortcuts I'd love to see which ones (I still mourn the fact that they haven't put liquify there)
