Wow, this month flew by! Can’t believe the end is already here ~ but I’m glad because that means spring is coming! Just like last month, a message will be sent out to all Patrons with a google drive link to download this month’s art and videos. Here’s a quick review of how this month went for me:

DIGITAL PAINTING

Before launching the patreon, I had mostly been working through old WIPs, just finalizing stuff that I created last year or even the year before. So it felt good to finally sit down and create some new ideas for paintings this month. It just feels exciting and fresh and new. I’m really excited to finish the ribbons piece and move on to the next ones as soon as possible. My main focus will be on working fast and not getting stuck on the details, which I hope to manage by keeping closer track of the time I spend and setting deadlines! I’ll keep you guys posted on the progress and I’ll be filming my process as I work, so keep an eye out for that.

MAKING SKETCHES

When I do rough sketches and studies, I notice that my skills in sketching and construction have improved, but the more I render, the more I lose those sketch lines. The finalized versions don’t really live up to the expectations that I have while sketching. I’m feeling frustrated about this aspect of my art at the moment, so I want to try out some new workflows where I stick more closely to my original construction. The Cheer head studies helped me out with that, and I’ll be keeping this in mind when creating studies and sketches next month as well!

PATREON

All in all, I’m overjoyed that I took this step. I notice that the more artwork I create, the more I’m getting back into a strong creative flow. When my process is constantly interrupted by other things, I don’t get the chance to change my process or follow up on the goals I set during my last drawing. Now, I’m much more capable of taking the lessons I learned into my next piece. It feels amazing! And it’s all because of you guys. I also really loved sharing my WIPs with you and using your feedback to make decisions on which one to move forward with. Not only do you guys support me, but you also boost my creativity. I’m endlessly grateful for you all!

If you have any feedback or questions, please feel free to share them with me through a direct message or e-mail to business@loish.net. Any and all feedback is welcome! I hope you’ll continue to be my patron and enjoy the content coming up next month! ❤

I'm really glad that you're feeling more creative. We all benefit from your boost in drawing time. It's even good for non-patrons since there's more to see as well. It's a win-win for everyone haha. You had once teased a video of you drawing where we could see your hands as well. Is something like that ever going to exist or it just didn't work well enough?

I love seeing how you break things down and work and seeing videos of your process has been incredibly helpful for me! Thank you so much for sharing all of that content! You help me become a better artist so it’s amazing that I’m able to do something to help you become even better as well!

I’m so glad to hear that starting a Patron helped! It’s always scary to plunge into something new and frightening but we are all so happy to support you with this. In terms of suggestions, you’re doing a great job, but personally I would like to see maybe a real time sketching session (with or without commentary)? Or a time lapse of a digital piece with voiceover? I understand you have a very busy schedule though, all of this might not be possible, so don’t feel pressured! As I said, I’m so glad to be able to be your Patreon and witness such an amazing talent and loads of content already!

I am so happy that you are finally taking the time to do art for yourself and sharing the process of it all on here. I was so excited to see that you started a Patreon! Personally I’m super new to digital art (about a year into it) so whenever I see videos of other artist’s process of how they go about their drawings is so helpful. I like seeing different techniques used. I am also one of those people who are constantly on Pinterest looking up drawing tips so when I see you post quick tips and tricks it’s extremely helpful and great content. I’m glad you’re doing this for you and sharing your art like this! You’re one of the best artists out there. Your technique is just gorgeous and your work is beautiful! ❤️

I appreciate your explanations. It gives hope and direction, where I might need it later and find especially encouraging now as I learn.

Your patreon emails are the highlight of my week. So happy that you have more time to explore and push your own ideas, concepts, and work further! In a way, you're also encouraging everyone else to pursue what they love while cheering you on and learning new things along the way, too. February's posts have been amazing and I'm definitely looking forward to March! Thank you for all you do and share, Lois!! <3
