Wow! My first month of having this Patreon has just flown by! I hope you enjoyed the art and videos! Here’s a quick review of how the month went for me, just so you can get a sense of what it means to me and how I will move forward from here.

CREATING VIDEO

Making the sketchbook tour was a really steep learning curve for me! I had to figure out a lot of stuff about filming and editing to make it work. Even though it was challenging, it was worth it because it felt so good to talk about my sketchbook and share some more about myself with you. I’ve always kept a bit of emotional distance from people on social media, but having this little patreon community feels different. It’s been a really rewarding experience and I’m looking forward to making my next sketchbook tour for you guys!

MAKING ART

This month has been the first time in a really, really long time that I’ve finally been able to make some art for myself. To be honest, it’s been strange! My mind is so used to working for someone else that it feels unreal. Now I finally get to sit down and create something, just for the sake of it! It’s been really great getting back into making rough sketches and studies. I have a lot of ideas on things I want to learn and explore in the coming months. It’s also been really awesome to finally finish off a bunch of WIPs that I had lying around. I’m excited to complete them and then start on some new stuff!

MANAGING PATREON

For a while, the fear of managing yet another platform held me back from launching a Patreon. But honestly, it’s been so much easier than I expected. Every morning I check my patreon page and answer any comments or messages I’ve gotten, and when I create new art, I share it on Patreon first. You guys are my first priority when it comes to sharing and communicating. While drawing, I think of ways that I can share what I’m doing with you guys - breaking it down into steps, or making a video. It actually feels more like a nice, cozy little club than a demanding platform. All in all, I’m so happy I took this step!

As always, thanks so much for supporting me. If you have any feedback or questions, please feel free to share them with me! This is my first month, so if there are any issues with the videos, file management or posts, just let me know! I still need to learn a lot, so any input is helpful.

I hope you’ll continue to be my patron and enjoy the content coming up next month! ❤

(( Ps - if you need any ideas for content I would be very interested to hear any tips on line art and line weight.. something I am currently struggling with 🥴 thank Lois! ))

Hey Lois! Thank you for taking the plunge for us! You’re doing great! I signed up for Patreon just for your content and god, I don’t regret it. I genuinely just downloaded the patreon app and since I only have your page in it, it’s like having a separate Loish-social network! :D it feels like we are all part of a secret club and I’m so privileged to be learning from you. Well done!

Thank you Lois! I can’t believe the month is already over! It’s crazy how fast things have gone but I’m also amazed at how much you did this month! You’re a huge source of motivation for me and I truly enjoyed supporting you

No no.. thank you!! 😁 This is an amazing space to learn and explore and wonder and socialise, etc etc. Great decision to finally create this 🙂. I was very pleasantly surprised with the amount of content. I signed up expecting to see a few early release insta posts, and maybe a sketch or two extra... but so far you’ve delivered some incredible content.. we can tell you put allot of effort and love into this. ... That being said.. you asked for input.. so here it comes... don’t let the stream of content overwhelm you. We are here to support you, not to suck you dry. So if you suddenly are more busy with another fun project, or if you’re feeling a bit under the weather, etc.. don’t feel guilty posting a bit less that month.. we’re not gonna pick up pitchforks and torches 😋 last thing we want, is for this patreon to add too much pressure on you. Just go with whatever feels natural and fun, and we will follow 😁 (also fyi.. I’m 100% sure you’ll hit 1000 followers on here soon.. so congratzzz in advance 😂😘) see ya next month 🙌 woop 🙌 woop 🙌

haha yes! that's what it feels like to me too! It's so much more cosy and fun than I imagined it would be. thanks so much for the support!

Loish

thanks so much tijl! I will keep that in mind. For me, setting up this patreon was also a way to commit to creating more, so it does feel like the right thing for me right now! but if things get overwhelming, I will communicate about it and follow my gut. thanks for the kind words!

Thank you so much for joining patreon and for the massiv download you gave us. I put everything on my tablet so I can watch it on my way to work to brighten up my day.

I can't wait for the next sketchbook tour. I had it going on while I was working on my comic page and somehow looking up, seeing the picture, and then looking back at my page and just listening to your narration took me straight into the flow state and I drew my page faster than I have ever before!

I'm working to transition from traditional watercolor to digital. Your subtlety and color sense have been a great inspiration. I appreciate the time it must take to prepare presentations for this Patreon group. I feel my my subscription is one of my very best investments in learning.

Wow! I did not expect that - at all! A download option for the past month - how awesome is that?! Thank you, Loish! I have a technical question... it is just a minor thing, really... maybe for you or a fellow Patron to answer if possible, please: if i want to download more than one file on GoogleDrive, it starts a ZIPping process, that take ages to complete. Can i somehow avoid that process? It would be way faster, if i could download the uncompressed files. Has anybody a simliar experience? Thank you in advance for any advice!

Loish

it should be possible to just browse to the individual files and download them one by one. might take extra time because you have to click on each file individually, but maybe that's faster than the zipping process?

Anonymous

Yes, that is possible. And next time i will do that. Thank you! I was just curious if anybody has a tip. Maybe the trouble is just on my end and nobody else has this zipping problem...

Thank you so much. I know social media can be very overwhelming!
