Hey lovely Patrons! Just a little update to let you know what I’ve been up to for the past two days! Long story short: I travelled up to Groningen, a city in the Netherlands that’s about a two hour drive from my hometown, and spent two days there to be present at the official opening of Storyworld.

Storyworld is a new museum about comics, games and animation. They also have a temporary exhibition space, and my art will be on display there until the end of March! The museum is located inside a huge, super modern building which has also just opened. It felt like a huge honor to be a part of it.

Saturday was the official opening and I was there to sign books and do some live drawing sessions. I did two 30 minute sessions, first drawing Aloy and then drawing Ariel. My drawing process was projected on a gigantic screen throughout the building! Here’s the drawings I made during those sessions,  including the steps:

LIVE DRAWING 01 // ALOY

 LIVE DRAWING 02 // ARIEL

The main thing I try to show during these live demonstrations is that I usually start very simple and try not to sweat the details. I just kind of wing it and improvise as I go, and it usually works out in the end. I want to demystify the process, and show people that the drawing doesn’t have to be perfect!

Here are some photos of the event and the screen projection:

Today it’s back to work! I’m putting together a full process video of one of my older paintings, plus the sketchbook tour. And of course I’ll be creating some new art this week :) Thanks for reading everyone! <3

This is so great for you! I loved seeing your Stories on Instagram! I must feel weird (but oh so nice) to be in a museum!!! On a different note I was wondering : how do you find your experience on Patreon so far ?

Loish

thanks so much! i feel like I still need to get into the swing of things here. I need to figure out how things work and balance the creation of videos / behind the scenes stuff with making new art. but it's very new so I'm sure I'll figure it out!

Loish

AH, I’m so pleased to have introduced you to her. Like you, she’s another one of my female creative heroes. Her cosplay skills are through the roof and her videos about how to build costumes are delightful.
