Hello everyone!

The day of my move is approaching fast - in fact, tomorrow I'm packing up my laptop and the day after I will be on my way.

That being said, I know I'm your favourite workaholic, and I have been hard at work coming up with cool upgrades for a different vehicle: Mule.

Mule is a great way to deliver resources early in the game, but it suffers from the fact that it's terrible when it comes to off-roading, it has very little armor, it has very little fuel capacity, and the acceleration is absolutely horrible.

The upgrades I have planned out for the Mule fix these issues!

OFFROAD TIRES

  • Label: offroad tires
  • Description: Replace the tires with deep threaded tires that provide more traction and will allow the vehicle to move significantly faster offroad.
  • Effect:
    • Set Off Road Path Cost Multiplier to 0.80
    • Set Winter Path Cost Multiplier to 0.80
    • Set World Speed Multiplier to x1.10
  • Cost: 4x VVE_Wheel, 40 steel, 40 chemfuel
  • Work cost: 2000 ticks
  • Uses vehicle colors: False
  • Visuals added: Add the layer called Tier1_Hauler_UpgradeTires to the vehicle rendering.

EXPANDED CARGO SPACE

  • Label: expanded cargo space
  • Description: Increase the amount of cargo that can be hauled by this vehicle, and add two additional passenger slots.
  • Effect:
    • Increase CargoCapacity by +200
    • Add 2x Passenger slots
  • Cost: 60 Steel, 220 Cloth
  • Work cost: 3200 ticks
  • Uses vehicle colors: False

Visuals added: Add the layer called Tier1_Hauler_UpgradeCargo to the vehicle rendering.

EXTERIOR ENGINE

  • Label: exterior engine
  • Description: Elevate the engine to improve its efficiency at the cost of exposing it to damage.
  • Effect:
    • Engine is no longer set to Internal
    • Fuel consumption rate reduced by 2
    • Acceleration rate increased by 0.02
  • Cost: 40 Steel, 2 Component
  • Work cost: 3200 ticks
  • Uses vehicle colors: False

Visuals added: Add the layer called Tier1_Hauler_UpgradeEngine to the vehicle rendering.

REINFORCED ARMOR

  • Label: reinforced armor
  • Description: Weld a layer of reinforced steel plating to the vehicle, increasing its armor value at the cost of increasing vehicle mass and lowering acceleration.
  • Effect:
    • Increases ArmorRating_Sharp by +0.12 on all vehicle components.
    • Increases ArmorRating_Blunt by +0.08 on all vehicle components.
    • AccelerationRate decreased by 0.01
    • Mass increased by 40 kg.
  • Cost: 120 steel.
  • Work cost: 6000 ticks
  • Uses vehicle colors: True

Visuals added: Add the layer called Tier1_Hauler_UpgradeArmor to the vehicle rendering.

BIG CHEMTANKS

  • Label: big chemtanks
  • Description: Attach two big chemfuel canisters to the bottom of the vehicle to allow it to travel greater distances without the risk of running out of fuel.
  • Effect:
    • Fuel capacity increased by 160.
  • Cost: 60 steel.
  • Work cost: 2000 ticks
  • Uses vehicle colors: True

Visuals added: Add the layer called Tier1_Hauler_UpgradeChemfuel to the vehicle rendering.

All in all, a fully upgraded Mule should look something like that:

That's it for this quick devblog. You will hear more from me next week! Oskar Potocki, signing out!

So sick :)

Any plans for sidegrades? Like say if I wanted to sacrifice the cargo capacity of a pickup and place a minigun or a mortar on it.

Depends how severe you want these side grades to be. Some of these already are! For example, the Traveller supercar engine trades fuel efficiency for speed and acceleration!

I thought the upgrades were just going to be non-visual like with pawns getting bionics. This is actually sick!
