What's up guys!

We have hit a small hiccup with the big announcement so I've decided to extend the Three days of Pirates into FIVE days of pirates.

I know, right? It's almost the entire week of Pirates. Nothing cooler than that.

If you missed the previous posts, you can check out Day 1 and Day 2 by clicking the links!

Let's go!

Day Three:

IDEOLOGY

A new meme is added in this mod if Ideology DLC is present. It’s called Pirate, and it’s a special twist on Raider that also carries a unique ritual and a new unique role.

PIRATE

“Strong should take from the weak, for that is our right, but camaraderie and code should be elevated above all.”

Impact: Medium

Sticking together through hardship and delivering hardship to others.

Connected Precepts: Raiding: Required or Raiding: Respected, Execution: Horrible if innocent or Don't care or Respected if guilty or Required, Camaraderie: Respected or Camaraderie: Exalted.

Connected Ritual: Singing Shanties

Connected Role: Captain

CAMARADERIE

Camaraderie is a new precept related to other members of the same ideology under player control.

Camaraderie: Respected

Impact: Medium

Effect: Big opinion boost to other members of this ideology under player control. Social interactions with other members of this ideology cause a following mood thought:

Socialized with a comrade - “I’ve socialised with a comrade, which strengthens our bond.” - +3 Mood for 6 hours. Doesn’t stack, but refreshes with each social interaction.

A strong mood debuff when a member of this ideology dies under player control, with a mood thought below:

Lost a comrade - “We’ve lost one of ours. What a sad day it is.” - -3 Mood for 24 hours. Doesn’t stack, but refreshes with each death of a comrade.

Camaraderie: Exalted

Impact: High

Effect: Huge opinion boost to other members of this ideology under player control. Social interactions with other members of this ideology cause a following mood thought:

Socialized with a comrade - “I’ve socialised with a comrade. We are unstoppable!” - +6 Mood for 6 hours. Doesn’t stack, but refreshes with each social interaction.

A strong mood debuff when a member of this ideology dies under player control, with a mood thought below:

Lost a comrade - “We’ve lost one of ours. I need to look to others for strength.” - -10 Mood for 24 hours. Doesn’t stack, but refreshes with each death of a comrade.

Each time a comrade is lost, each member of this ideology under player controls receives a +5 memory to other members of this ideology under player control, titled: “Been through some tough times together!”. Stacks up to +100. Never disappears.

SINGING SHANTIES

A new ritual is a part of this mod. Requires a Big Boss role. Pawns gather around a campfire and sing shanties. It plays the special music (Cursed Crew OST). At the end of the ritual, All pawns receive the following mood buff (can scale based on the ritual quality).

Great shanties! - “Shiver me timbers, those were some good shanties!” +5 mood for 48 hours.

If the ritual is of 50% quality, it also gives a reward in the form of a new quest (I think some vanilla rituals can give quests as rewards).

If the ritual is of 75% quality or higher, all participants lose ‘Lost someone’ thoughts. If they were unhappy because their wife died, it’s gone. Their son died? Poof, it’s gone too!

CAPTAIN

A new role is added with this meme called the Captain. Captain is a copy of Shooting Specialist, except instead of the Marksman command ability, they get the ‘Firing Frenzy command’ ability.

FIRING FRENZY

All pawns in the radius (same as Marksman Command) gain 50% decreased Shooting Aiming time and 50% increased Pain Shock Threshold for the duration. Lasts the same amount of time as Marksman Command.

RAID STRATEGIES

  1. GAUNTLET RAID

A new raid strategy utilised by Pirate factions is called the Gauntlet raid. Several makeshift spacecraft junk comes crashing down on the map, causing small detonations where it lands, similar to Vanilla Events Expanded space battle event.

After a few moments, each of these ship chunks spawns pirate enemies.

The ships can be destroyed for valuable resources.

Each of these ships has a turret mounted on top. As such, ships are essentially big turrets that spawn enemies.

GAUNTLET SHIP SKYFALLER

Gauntlet ship skyfaller flies from the left side of the screen, slowly. It should emit plumes of dark smoke from behind it. It uses the _Landing graphic. It can come in 4 colors so it’s important you code it in a way that red landing ship spawns red landed ship.

Gauntlet ship always crashes inside the base, destroying whatever it lands on. It needs to look epic, so we want smoke, explosions, fire, chemfuel puddles etc.

Once it lands, it turns into essentially a big turret:

CRASHED GAUNTLET SHIP

Crashed Gauntlet ship. Can no longer fly, but the built-in defense systems seem to be fully operational.

Crashed Gauntlet ship is a structure that’s 5x3 in size (but 7x5 in drawsize). It is essentially a hostile turret that fires at pawns.

After a few seconds, the raid comes out of the Gauntlet.

The Gauntlet, when destroyed, should yield 4 Steel slag chunks, 120 Steel, 6 Components.

GAUNTLET CHARGE CANNON

Ship mounted anti-armor charge cannon, often utilised in ship-to-ship combat in low atmosphere.

A cannon mounted on the Gauntlet ship. It should fire bursts of 3 projectiles with high armor piercing.

Want to see this raid in action?

The amount of Gauntlet ships depends on the raid size - Each gauntlet sits 7 enemies. This means that if a coming raid was to bring 70 pawns, it will be 10 gauntlets landing around your base, crashing everything! FUN!

Stay tuned for tomorrow!

Real question, can we build our own gauntlet ships?

I was like: nice, a pirate story teller. And then a faction, and now epic raids, memes and new itens. From a small "yay pirate story teller" to a new rimworld expansion. Looking amazing, thank so much for your work oskar o/

Is the ancient point defense turret capable to intercepting this ships?
